put a theme on one board only, sort of like a different theme per board? Hi PF Starting a sentence in your thread title, then completing it in the body of the OP isn't the preferred method. Better, I think, to use a thread title that more completely describes the issue than "Is there a way to", then restate it in the body of the OP if necessary. You received a good reply to a very similar issue by Todge in thread you created in the Request a Plugin board.
Themes have several components, most notably the Layout Templates and Style Sheet. If you have different layout templates on the themes available to your users having a different look on the "theme" you have for a certain board could be a tricky business indeed. If all themes share the same Layout Templates, that makes things a bit more simple but there will still be issues you might need to address. By putting a collection of css changes between style tags in the Board Header you can change the appearance on that board only. But you MUST make changes to 'update' anything that is already defined in the Style Sheet for the forum. For this reason, it would be simplest if you have just one basic theme for your forum, create a copy of that, then edit the Style Sheet of the copy to create the new look for the specific board. Also, if you do a View Page Source when viewing your forum, you will see a line similar to this, somewhere in the vicinity of line 25: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="//storage.proboards.com/*YOURFORUMIDHERE*/css/*STYLESHEETDESIGNATIONHERE*.css" id="forum_style" /> If you create a theme with the look you want for a certain board, you can view the forum using that theme, then grab that line from the Page Source. Then paste it into the Board Header. There are some issues of which you should be aware when doing this: 1 - This doesn't change the Layout Templates. 2 - If there are any style specifications made in the Style Sheet for the forum that aren't 'updated' in the Style Sheet for the board, they will affect the appearance. 3 - Each time you edit the Style Sheet for a theme, it will create a new file with a different '*STYLESHEETDESIGNATIONHERE*'. So CSS for the specific board will still be using the information from the old file unless you change the link in your Board Header.
So yes, within limits you can create a different look for a certain board (or boards) but it is rather tricky.

Retread , thank you for those instructions. I might try it some time. But for something simpler, is there a way to just have a different set of icons for one board? See, I have a board with the 'different background per board' plug-in, and I have a bungalow background on that board. I would like the icons to match the background of that board. So instead of having a folder icon, I would like something like a coconut icon instead, etc., just for that one board. Would that be possible?

But for something simpler, is there a way to just have a different set of icons for one board? That would be possible, but in no way 'simple'. The Thread Icons used on a theme can be different on various themes. But they are not controlled by the Style Sheet. So using a different style sheet on a particular board won't affect the icons. How the $[thread.icon] selects the appropriate icon depending on whether the tread is locked, stickied, etc, is above my pay grade. But to create a nest of {if}s to mimic this and forcibly choose an appropriate image on specific boards has been done recently by Craig in the thread: how to change thread image on different boardsYou might be able to gain some insight by reading that thread.
