Hi everyone
I have been heavily addicted to daydreaming and didn't even knew this can be a serious issue.God knows how I never even realized it before but it has been affecting my life since i was a teenager.May be because mental health has never been a topic of discussion from where I belong. Here when it comes to any issue regarding mental health people either pretend it's not there or dismiss it saying I am just over thinking and tired.
Don't know how to deal with it.

I think everybody day dreams but I am not sure if they have any problems with it, many a time I day dream about winning the National Lottery and what I would do with the fortune but then that's as far as it goes.
I know I love going to bed at night and have a good dream and I have the knack that if I wake up in the middle of a good dream and can go back to sleep and finish the dream off.

This kind of day dreaming, where it's affecting your life and with your mental health not being great - this is serious. It's also known as "zoning out" though there's various forms of it. One includes daydreaming. I strongly suggest you seek professional help because it can get worst. Some people have lost entire hours without even noticing because they zoned out too deep.
Being "addicted" to daydreaming is an attempt to escape your reality, which for kids is a perfectly normal coping mechanism. But if you're over 18 and still doing this, it's no longer healthy. Please, reach out to your doctor, a therapist, or some mental health resources. It'll make a huge difference.
I'm sorry you're going through this, but I wish you all the best. It can get better, I promise. You're not alone nor need to be. There are people who care and can help you not only understand what's going on when you daydream like that, but also help find healthy alternatives. Daydreaming is awesome, but it shouldn't be affecting your life in a negative way. Good luck!

Asking for help is the first step in dealing with it! So good for you! Can you pinpoint something going on in your life that may have triggered it? I agree that it's a way to escape reality. Do you have family, pets, something around you you can focus on & get grounded?
