Hi Are you asking in relation to the affiliate exchange board on this forum, or just affiliates in general?

That's fine. I just wanted to know as in general, it is down to the agreement you come to with the other forum owners. Scott oversees that board, so i will tag him here and he will let you know

gregoog, it's what Craig stated. How you display affiliate links on your forum is up to you. Just make sure you are up front about it with the other forums you exchange with, so they aren't expecting one thing and see another.

It is worth noting though, from a practical perspective a vast majority of forums that affiliate require you to display their banner on your home page in order for them to display your link; if you don't want banners on your home page, you will have a very hard time finding forums willing to accept your affiliation.
It is still up to you what you decide, but from a practical standpoint it won't be conducive to your affiliation efforts. If you don't display their banners --even if you link back-- most forums will reject your affiliation application.
