Centipedes! How do they break in to my house? Should I leave them and see them turn into butterflies? I think I'll catch them and put them outside!

Hi FriendlyIf it's actually centipedes you are seeing, those are adults, not larvae. They won't turn into butterflies. If you want to keep them out of certain areas of your home, peppermint oil will repel them. Also, they like damp places. A dehumidifier might help discourage them. They will eat other insects and spiders, so unless you're totally infested you might not want to do much of anything. Be careful handling them. The don't normally bite people but if you grab them by hand they probably will bite.

Centipedes are harmless & actually beneficial. Retread had good ideas on the peppermint & damp places. You can also seal entryways, remove clutter & their food supply (other insects lol).
