Well, how's this for a kick in the pants? We have been exposed a second time...this time, the person who passed it around had already lost his sense of taste and smell. So unless he is a big, fat liar that wants a couple of weeks off, we are screwed. Our Doctor won't even get my husband tested because it is too soon, so we have to quarantine for at least a week and then get tested, which will take a couple of days to get an appointment, then wait for his test to come back. There goes our Christmas. I can't even do any shopping or even make any plans to see my sister on Christmas day. It would have only been 5 people at my house. This is getting to be too much --- I haven't seen my mom since February, and now I can't see my sister or my bestie. I'm so sorry. What a major bummer. Let's hope this was all just precautionary in your case.

I'm quite concerned about getting the vaccine now that I'm reading those who have had severe allergic reactions need to stay away. I am deathly allergic to an antibiotic. Waiting to find out if that will disqualify me. It would sure be beyond frustrating if everyone else can get back to normal and I still have to be careful.

Waiting to find out if that will disqualify me. It would sure be beyond frustrating if everyone else can get back to normal and I still have to be careful. From what I've read, it will. Those who have had severe allergic reactions to any food or medication will not be given the vaccine in the first round. I reckon as time goes on, a skin test might be developed to determine if there is an allergic reaction in the particular person to the vaccine. But since the supply of the vaccine is less than the number of people currently wanting to take it, it would be more efficient to vaccinate those who don't require allergy testing. I expect even those who have been vaccinated will be required to wear masks when entering business establishments, until the majority of the population has been vaccinated. It would be difficult to enforce mask requirements on a case-by-case basis.

So this person knew he had it and didn't quarantaine?
It's gonna be a lonely Christmas for a lot of people. Over here if you're in a relationship, you're allowed to invite 1 person. If you're single, you're allowed to invite 2 people. I'm single and my friends are either in a relationship or going to parents. So there goes my Christmas. RIP2020

Oh wow. Sorry for ya. A lot of the CVS pharmacies and other places are doing testing. I took one and had results in a couple days. My doctor did my 2nd test (1st positive), but I went to CVS a couple days later to double check. That said, you could negative for several days even into symptoms, like I did. >.<

It’s looking like it’ll be a bit longer for me to get my vaccine now, as vulnerable people in the community are getting it before hospital staff. Still hoping for this month, definitely by the end of January.
On Thursday my husband woke up with a cough and we had to isolate for a day. Luckily my work really want me to work this weekend so they arranged a staff swab for him (I work in the lab where it’s tested) and fast tracked it to get same day results, and it was negative so we were both back at work the day after. I did spend the day worried about how I’d cope with 14 days isolation, which would take me up to Christmas Eve. Very grateful that it was negative.
It’s interesting seeing the difference in testing and isolation strategies in different places. In the UK you’re only supposed to get tested if you’re symptomatic, not just because you’ve had contact, although you can pay for it privately for travel etc. I do have 6 weeks worth of lateral flow home tests as I’m hospital staff...but they accuracy on those isn’t as good as the lab based PCR.

Over here (Belgium) you can get tested if you're symptomatic and when you've been in contact with someone who tested positive. Except for last month when the labs were overworked, you could only get tested if you had symptoms but as of December everyone can get tested again. Sadly we've plateaud so restrictions might not ease mid January. No news yet about when we can get vaccinated, but seeing as I'm not a risk factor, don't work in health care etc, it'll be a while before I'll get it.
Pfizer is shipping a lot of vaccins to the UK, US, ... No idea when we'll get the vaccine in Belgium. I read Belgium has ordered 5 million doses and everyone will need 2 doses of the vaccine, so that's good for 2.5 million people.

I went to high school there for a couple years at the International School of Brussels. Such a beautiful place. But so much rain!

I won't be taking anything that's been rushed either. Too many unanswered questions about the whole thing.

I won't be taking anything that's been rushed either. Too many unanswered questions about the whole thing. They haven’t been rushed. Decades of research has led to being able to convert existing vaccine templates to cover SARS-COV-2. The trials have appeared to be faster than usual as they’ve gone on to the next phase before waiting to see if previous phases worked, potentially losing a lot of time and money if the previous hadn’t. No shortcuts, just being efficient and taking a financial risk rather than a safety risk. The regulators have checked as the work has gone on, rather than leaving all the checks till the end. Everything is above board, and the methods of testing have been no different to vaccines that take longer to come out. Someone in my department has been invited to have the vaccine next week. My hospital is starting on staff on the 5th, with staff with risk factors going first. He’s diabetic and South Asian, so scores quite highly. I have no risk factors, but it’s still looking good for the rest of the hospital getting it next month!

I’ve got an appointment for next Tuesday morning. I can’t explain how excited and relieved I am. I’ll be getting the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.

I'm really frustrated at the roll out of the vaccine here in the United States. And I'm a little perplexed about why different states are doing things so differently. Here in my state of Utah, they've given it to healthcare workers first. Now they are moving on to first responders and teachers. Yet those who actually would likely to die if they get infected are still not able to. In my opinion, people over 75 and people with underlying conditions should be eligible now.

I just did an online test, to see when I'll get the vaccine. Somewhere around June - August... not happy!
According to the test, my parents will get it in March.
And today our system got hacked, so even more delays?
