I got the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine done last week while working and giving it to my patients who had consent forms. I absolutely am pro-vaccine and I think anyone who doesn't get it through pure choice and no medical reason to not get it should be held accountable if we end up in another lockdown. Held accountable? What would be the consequences? Personally I think anyone who chooses to not get the vaccine for no other reason than they are anti-vac is dumber than a box of rocks. But I also believe that's their prerogative. Forcing anyone to have any medical treatment is just plain wrong. I feel quite certain the AMA shares the same view. And if there are legal penalties imposed on those who choose to not get the vaccine, that amounts to force.

But if they take a hospital bed from someone who legitimately couldn't get vaccinated, or it just hasn't been their turn yet, that would be hard to take.

Of course I'll be getting it because of where I work, my senior father, and for the health and safety of me.

I got the vaccine myself a bit ago. No side effects.

I'm in Utah, where we are reportedly doing really well in terms of vaccine distribution. My octogenarian mother has been fully vaccinated now and I'm just waiting my turn. Starting in March they will start vaccinating those 65 and over and those with certain comorbidities. Right now it's 70 and over. I should be in the next round after the 65 plus. So I'm hoping to have my turn by the end of March. I will gladly roll up my sleeve!

Me? No. I won't have it. We have a basic human right to say what goes into our bodies. I've done my research. This is not a political topic, I'm just interested in what y'all think on a personal level. I am going to wait it out for a LONG while, possibly more than a year and maybe rethink.. However, at the moment, no. I will not.

Just as an update, we are doing so well now that they've moved up the 65 plus phase to start today. It was supposed to be March 1st. Sure seems like the vaccination folks here have got things figured out.

I can't wait to get mine, but I'm afraid it's going to be a little while. Our state's distribution infrastructure seems to be pretty good now, we just need actual supply. There are about 40 million people here, and despite being at risk I don't think my conditions actually move me up in line at all, so I don't think I'll start getting my hopes up until later summer or something.

Iβd be interested to know what research those who have voted for that option have done, and why their conclusions are different to the experts in vaccinology, virology, clinical trials, data analysis, public health and medical regulation.
I think the vaccine effort seems to be going pretty well in the UK still. All targets being met, and I know quite a lot of people who have had it now. Canβt wait for my 2nd dose in April! Iβll also quite happily have a booster later in the year should they have to update it for the South Africa strain.

But I too am curious what sort of research was done and using what sources. I was also curious if that those that are against the vax, are against any sort of medicine, including over the counter meds.
