Contribute to ProBoards (and get rewards!)

In our previous post we mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted our company revenue. There has been a major downturn in online advertising. In addition, the drastic increase in ad-blocker usage has impacted our income significantly.

Our forums are not going anywhere. We are not shutting down, nor does this have any direct impact to any of our users, but it does affect our day-to-day operations for our team members.

We have been approached by many users who expressed their desire to help contribute to ProBoards, but the only real answer we had was for members to subscribe to PB+, our monthly subscription service for Ad-Free browsing. Now, we have a (much better!) alternative.

We plan to further develop this reward system to grow more community engagement through new and exciting features, benefits, and gifts. Our hope is to continue to offer something that is new, engaging, and fun for our members. If you choose to contribute on an ongoing basis, you will always receive the latest monthly rewards based on your contribution tier!

In addition to the rewards we are currently offering, we are interested in hearing more from you. What kind of rewards would you like to see added? Let us know in the replies, and if you like an idea already posted - make sure to leave a like on that post. We’ll try to bring any highly requested ideas to reality!

Among the rewards available to contributors, you will notice early access to the ProBoards v6 beta! This includes using an early version of v6 on forums where you are the main administrator, running alongside v5 - just like here on the Support forum. Please note that this is not the only way to get access to the beta, just one way to guarantee early access. We will share more information regarding the beta testing very soon!

Our community is full of brilliant creators - coders, designers, artists and writers, all of whom are contributing a small part of themselves to all of us. It would bring us great honor to bring all that effort in front of everyone. Very soon we will be announcing the first of many small competitions aimed at providing an opportunity for these individuals to be recognized. Stay tuned for an update very soon!

For anyone interested in physical products like t-shirts, hoodies, or even a mask - we’ve set up a ProBoards Store on Teespring. You’ll see some familiar characters on various products and hopefully find something exciting for yourself. We are looking to keep expanding the items available. If there are certain things that you wish we offered, please let us know so we can consider them for inclusion.

We will continue to work hard to try to bring new features to everyone as soon as possible. As always, we are committed to a quality product, not only with v6 and its upgrades, but in all future products and features as well.

What are the contributor badges (bronze, silver, gold) and standard forum badges?

I may be an odd duck but the ads don't bother me. I'm not exactly sure if I need file space. I don't "store" a lot of stuff in my forum.

I think what I need more than anything is something like 15-20 new active users in my forum to get things going. LOL!

It was an honor and a privilege to offer my support. I have been a member since 2003. It's hard to believe that I joined as a teenager and have been a member for almost half of my life. We grew up together and learned a lot together. I would like to offer my thanks and praise to the amazing members and support team. You offer a community experience that is invaluable, and in my opinion, will always be better than Facebook or other forms of social media. I love you all like family. You can see an image of the contributor badges under the "Top Contributors" heading on the Contribute page. Standard forum badges can be found in your Profile under the Gifts tab.

Believe it or not, I first started a ProBoards back in 2000 or 2001. I got my forum up to thousands of users, then I gave the forum to someone else. (No regrets! It was swallowing up my life.) Remained a forum member for these past 20-some years. Now, I started my own board again a few months ago and all these memories of my struggles with my first board and the effort I put in to get it to thousands of users came flooding back. LOL!

I don't think I can work that hard anymore to get it to thousands of users.

All I need is 15-20 more. And 15-20 good ones. LOL!

can the gifts be passed back and forth like other gift items or are they one time use?

Badges that can normally be gifted still function the same way. Special Contributor badges are for the person who is making the contribution. Exclusive badges can only be gifted once each.

PB+ can be given to anyone but it cannot be passed on again.

Attachment space works either on one of your own forums or you can give it to another forum but it cannot then be passed again.

thanks. Also I saw a member had reported that the contributor badge caption said it would be available on "all forum accounts" but then you could only apply it on one forum.
