Hi, I think I just made a contribution. I was surprised to have to create an(other) account, and I haven't received a confirmation, and I don't understand about the rewards, BUT... Anyway, I'm happy to help and I hope you got my contribution!

Question, if I make a contribution "in the name of" a forum I am part of does the ad-free perk go site-wide or just to my account personally?

I have a question (I hope this is the correct post to ask this question?) -- Anyway, if I contribute (let's say $50) would that be a one time payment or would it be monthly? I could only afford the one time at the moment. On the contribute page, right next to the big Contribute heading you can choose between monthly and one-time, so its completely up to you!

Anyway, I'm happy to help and I hope you got my contribution! Once you've contributed you can click on "Manage Rewards" on the top of this page: www.proboards.com/contribute to access your rewards. Question, if I make a contribution "in the name of" a forum I am part of does the ad-free perk go site-wide or just to my account personally? You can make the contribution in the name of a forum but the rewards are yours to use as you see fit. You can either claim rewards for yourself or gift them to others (or other forums) where possible. Edit: Just to be clear, PB+ is personal ad-free, it would never apply to a whole forum, just the accounts that have active PB+.

Sorry for not reading the whole thread - I just wanted to notify Proboards of something.
Someone on our forum just posted the following:
I think these are two very good points. I spent a good ten minutes trying to find a way to email Proboards directly about this just so they would know there is an issue. They are going to miss out on a lot of money if they don't jump on people's first generous impulse, and paypal is the norm for forum subs etc.
Any thoughts?

I asked the same question about making a contribution via PayPal a few months ago but was informed by Proboards staff that this was not an option. Unfortunately, getting a PayPal card is not an option in the UK.
FWIW, I have spoken with my under Admin and both of my Moderators on my forum and none will consider contribution sadly, unless PayPal was an option.
If Proboards could make PayPal an option I'm sure that there would be a significant increase in contributions from members - myself included for sure.

I agree with your comments Gene also being from the UK. I WANT to make a contribution but I am only comfortable doing so via PayPal. I am not interested in being given any perks. I am allowed use of a free forum and I am grateful for this, but I can make a one off payment now and again.

Ditto again re Paypal. Many of the board members from the forum I use have the same comment, plus a ffair ew of us are from outside the US and need that option.

Colophon Gene Hunt dakrmere and fruitysuet Be advised, ProBoards has previously stated they would like to be able to accept payment via paypal, but paypal has chosen to not work with ProBoards. Hi, I know this has come up before but I'm happy to reiterate. Paypal refuses to work with us. At one point a long time ago we accepted Paypal. One day, Paypal banned our account and held it under investigation (with all of the funds still in the account). We're still not sure exactly why Paypal took this step but all successive attempts to open a new account or speak to someone at Paypal about opening a new account has been met with silence or generic rejection. Paypal is obviously welcome to reject our business, we'll likely never know exactly why they've decided to do so. With that said, we're open to investigating other payment methods!

That is helpful Retread , Thank you. I note that the date of that post by Michael Stone is from 1 year ago so would not have been in this particular thread, hence why I and no doubt others were unaware of this exchange between PB & PayPal. As Elton said, it's a sad sad situation, because it is costing PB with lost contributions. Shame on PayPal. GH.

Just confirming this is correct. Over a decade ago PayPal shut down our account with no warning and no explanation, and has refused to do business with us since. We tried to work with them but got stonewalled at every step

Hi everyone. Just a thought on the mass PM to my forum. I wish I would have been notified before sending out the mass PM. Reason being is the forum is pretty new and was started to go in direct competition with the old forum owned by Verticalscope because they don't care about the users. Also spam is a big problem there and nothing gets done about it. So right now I am slowly getting users to ditch the old forum and come over to Proboards. A few users that just migrated over asked me if this was going to be the same sapm as they were getting on the verticalscope site. I did tell them this was a first so they were okay with that. Needless to say it was just unintentional bad timing. I have no issue with the mass PM, other then the bad timing. Anyhow I am happy to donate and keep up the great work!
