When I stopped drinking soda I noticed the pounds started to come off so I'm going to challenge myself to switch to flavored water, I found a brand that still gives me that soda feel buf has 0 calories. The amount of weight I gained has been noticeable. So for those that have stopped drinking it what are some of your substitutions?
My plans are at least 15 minutes of walking perday and less of a fast food intake. I've also been stocking on teas incase I'm tempted to grab a can or want something sweeter.

Without sounding discouraging, please try to stay away from artificial sweeteners. Even though they may have zero calories, they aren't good for you and I don't want anything to happen to you. I do with you the best of luck with your goals.

I used to drink soda like it was going out of style back in my younger years. Now that I'm older, it just doesn't taste all that great to me anymore. I have three drinks that are my go to: iced water, unsweetened iced tea, and coffee. During the colder months, I tend to drink a lot of unsweetened hot tea too. I found this blackberry tea that is super yummy! But I digress... Anyway, best of luck with your dietary/exercise changes. The walking will be a great way to help take some of the extra weight off. Start small and work your way up to a half hour/hour walk. Don't get discouraged and be kind to yourself. Anything's possible if we just put our minds to it.

I drink the Sparkling Ice. It's only 5 calories and seems to have nothing in it but some flavoring. I haven't had soda pop in probably 8 years.
Good luck on cutting down the fast food and getting more exercise in!

You seem to have a good plan. I drink propel and other flavored waters once a day, it helps. Also I got a fitbit and an app to track my intake.

I wish you the best of luck. Personally, after a heart thing in 2017, I cut ALL caffeine out of my life cold turkey. I mostly drink water and Gatorade Zero. I've been loosing weight, not sure if it is due to that or the cancer, but either way I feel okay with it.

I used to drink Pepsi like crazy. I had all of my life until a mix up with an anxiety medication made me super sensitive to caffeine. Cut myself off cold turkey and haven't had any since September 4, 2019. I switched to caffeine free root beer because I still craved the sweet carbonation. Trying to add more water into my diet, but I just can't stand the taste of plain water.

Trying to add more water into my diet, but I just can't stand the taste of plain water. That's hilarious ... ... because it's true! Water from a bad well with the taste of sulphur and/or iron compounds tastes bad. Likewise overly-chlorinated water from a municipal supply tastes like a swimming pool. But that's probably not what either of us are thinking here. Pure H 20 feels wet but doesn't have any taste at all. And my brain just can't handle that. Personally, I squeeze the juice from half a lemon into a gallon of water and add a bit of sugar so the sweet balances the sour. The flavor is subtle, but it's just enough for me. Also, I've been seeing commercials for MiO and other 'water enhancers' lately. So apparently other people have a similar aversion to plain water.

Careful! My wife got very sick from splenda and equal. Artificial can be just as lethal if not worse. Hope the soda diet works!

I mostly stopped drinking soda about six years ago, replacing it (and all other sugary drinks) with water. It helped a lot with my weight loss goal at the time, and my teeth stopped forming new cavities, too. I'd recommend giving up soda if you can.

It's not that bad to have a soda here and thete, I enjoy me a drink of beam and cola every now and then. You really don't have to cut anything permanently to be in better health. Less is more.

Actually it's still a battle. I've been wait and watch with it since 2017. Hopefully, it doesn't progress and I won't need treatment. And, that is a strong hope because once it does progress, it's really aggressive. It's called CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia).

If you can just drink a single soda on rare occasion, that's not so bad. But in my case, I've found that it's nearly impossible for me to occasionally consume something like that without it turning into a habit.
