Hi,
I have been tasked with tidying up our forum a little.
One thing we want to do is change the way that quotations appear. Currently on our forum, if you quote someone, the reply does not come up in a nice box, rather it is all text and not within a nice tidy container (box) as the person replies.
Is there a setting to modify this?
Thanks
Dennis

alfie, yes there is a setting. Quotes can be styled by going to Admin > Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS, Visual Editor, then Objects > Quotes.

Thanks Scott.....been in there and it is not clear how I can make the change. Here is what I mean. Please see attachments. We want the box as shown on the second attachment. The first attachment is how it appears on our forum at the minute, the second is from this forum: rebel-superdreamerz.proboards.com/Attachments:

alfie, I understand what you want to do, however do you want to manually do this to every quote in every post? Or just set the styling once and have it apply to all quotes? To change the quote styling how I originally described you would need to have access to the admin panel. I don't see where you have this access. Access is something the main admin would need to grant you. If the main admin would like, we can guide them on how to set up access and/or how to change the quote styling.

Thanks Dennis I think there was some confusion here. Scott is directing you to where you would change the appearance of quotes. I think you're noticing the difference between Preview and BBCode modes in the WYSIWYG editor. Preview will show you the "end appearance" of your post as it will display after it is posted. BBCode mode will show you all of the raw text and code of a post, which changes how the quote looks. You can change your default posting mode (which view you start out in when you hit reply) from your Profile. Profile>Edit Profile>Settings then the "Posting Default" should be set to Preview.

Thank you both Scott and Michael.
Michael yes, that was what I needed. I guess I must have accidently changed that default setting at some point.
Thank you again, problem solved.
