Have you checked the security log? Chances are they joined, and then deleted themselves,or another moderator deleted it.

The above is the most likely scenario. When an account is deleted, the name changes to Deleted, so someone would have created an account and then deleted it. As elhombre mentioned, the security log should show a record of this Craig

OK I had checked the security log and it showed where I had banned a new member that was advertising there business on our website in a foreign language. We get these every so often so apparently it is something I was doing wrong. When I look at my banned list this is what I see. Is this correct. I guess it is the option to remove that confuses me.
Banned (Remove) 116.98.161.46 (Remove) Thanks

Another thing that folks haven't mentioned, which is what I think is the case here, is that sometimes ProBoards removes spam accounts that they know are just spammers. You would still see that they were Deleted in the message informing you of a new member joining, but there would be no security log action.
That seems to be the case here, because you have to intentionally delete accounts -- banning an account does not remove it from existence, and the security log would be explicit in stating that [User] deleted account [user].
The "remove" option you see is to remove the ban, not the account.

Thanks Kami. You have explained what has happened except the message didn't show up until 2 days latter or I just didn't notice it.

Thanks Kami. You have explained what has happened except the message didn't show up until 2 days latter or I just didn't notice it. What probably happened is that the deleted member was brand new -- they probably joined, and were swept up in a wave of global deletions. Sometimes spammers mass-register, so they'll disappear from the service simultaneously when PB removes their accounts; it's likely that the person you banned, and the account that was deleted, are not the same person. Not noticing the new member message is likely just a coincidence, or deleting the account prompted an erroneous notification trigger.
