You know it's been a long time since I had one and thought I'd make one for lunch. A dab of papprika really changed the flavor and taste. I don't really understand the hatred some have for them other then being turned off by fish or mayo. Smell isn't that pleasent but overall taste makes up for it.

You aren't talking about the ones from Subway... I thought for sure that that is what this thread was going to be about! I hate this whole thing (the lawsuit) because I adore their tuna. That's all I'll order when I get to have Subway.

K, now take that tuna sandwich... and grill it. It's so much better than plain.
I make mine using 1 can of tuna (in water, drained), 3 or 4 Tbsp of Miracle Whip, 1 diced dill pickle sandwich slice, a few shakes of garlic salt and onion powder, and a little bit of vinegar. It's so good.

They do use a tad more mayo than I l ike, that is why I love it even better the next day-the mayo seems to become absorbed into the bread for me it's just yum!

I'll try it with just plain garlic powder. What brand of paprika do you use?

I guess it depends there are lower sodium versions I use any really I'm not a picky brand eater great value works just as well. Tarter sauce is also a good blend if you want a bit more pickle flavor.

I love tuna fish salad. I make it and generally either eat it with crackers or on a sandwich. Sadly, I can't control myself so I don't eat it very often.

I speak for myself that if I have too much of it I tend to get sick of it only because my body just doesn't want it anymore otherwise I could eat a bowl of it and yes, paprika does change the flavour of it but so does a hint of freshly squeezed lemon or onions and even the type of mayo you use.
There's lots of different ways to spruce up your tuna sammy's. ๐

It's so good. You and I are almost perfectly in tuna tune on this one. I use toasted 12-grain bread but grilling does seem worth trying. Definitely packed-in-water rather than packed-in-oil tuna. Definitely Miracle Whip rather than Mayo for this application. Regarding the pickle and onion, I use sweet pickle relish and finely diced onion. Yes, garlic powder or garlic salt for me too. I also include finely diced celery. Sometimes a slice of sharp cheddar. Occasionally a dash of ground black pepper ... or if I'm in a particularly rowdy mood a sprinkle of this:

Retread Grilling is 100% amazing. I use butter to grill, but I've heard that using mayo is a level-up. Hmm, I haven't thought to try pickle relish or chopped onion. I think I'll give that a try next. It's tough to get onion really finely diced for me, but maybe with the Slap Chop. ๐ Might try some of that Creole seasoning. I have a "Chef's Shake" that works well on just about everything, too. A slice of sharp cheddar melted over the top is also very good, especially grilled.
