Using search tags

Back in the day, there was a way to add codes that would place search tags or Metatags as they might have been called. These were free and were placed at the bottom of the main page. I was wondering if these still existed or is there another way to entice folks to find my board. I know you can show your board for comments but forgot how to advertise it to others.

Meta keywords tags have been mostly deprecated for multiple reasons; the presence of meta keywords tends to cause search engines to flag the site in question as spam as historically they'd been abused to falsely inflate results by adding in unrelated terms.
