When making a normal post, filtered words do not show up as their filtered version in the post preview. When editing a signature, words do show up as filtered version in the signature preview.
Is there a way to make the signature preview behave as the post preview does?
Our forums like to use these word filters as a way to trigger a challenge without advance knowledge. i.e. you post some trigger-phrase, which is only filtered to reveal the competition on posting (and thus, starting a timer too). One user highlighted you could get around this via posting the trigger in signature and getting a preview of the filter that way.
I have been temporarily using a plug-in for this purpose as a workaround for now.

Hi Unfortunately, there isn't a way to currently achieve that, i'm afraid. I have marked this as a feature request for consideration, however. Curiously, what kind of game/challenge is it?

I was afraid of that. The only real fix we've found so far is to completely remove the either the Preview section via CSS, or indeed, dropping the entire edit-profile page via the layout sheets.
The challenges can be anything really. Spot the Difference, Crosswords, Mazes to name a few. Typically it's some kind of puzzle in which solving it quicker than anyone else is the key. So obviously, having the ability to preview the puzzle breaks this.
Overall, the puzzles feed into a larger Online Reality Game. Similar to the Survivor TV show, with groups of players spending up to a month together, competing with each other, getting voted out, and socially navigating the game.

Do let me know if that kind of thing interests you. I know many eager hosts always on the look out for new players.

Okay, after some hefty testing, I don't think there's any way to fully remove this backdoor preview into the word filter results.
I see admin have flaired this thread as a feature request. Fingers crossed this is something you can cover into v6, as right now our only foolproof solution is to use a non-ProBoards forum, which is obviously not ideal. I understand it's not exactly high priority.
To be clear, the request is that nowhere on a forum should a non-admin user ever be able to preview the result of a word filter without actually posting it.

Do your forum members use signatures for anything as far as the intended purpose of the space? If not, you could always hide the signature section as a whole with CSS (preventing a work around by disabling javascript), and the mobile version of PB doesn't show a preview when editing the signature.
Edit: Actually, in theory you could also hide the signature preview link with CSS as well, but it's a bit harder to hide individual links so this may or may not be possible — I am on mobile at the moment while I wait for an appointment but can test this in about an hour.
