Forum URL: thecurecommunity.freeforums.net/forumSeems (just today) tweets are not visible in posts via safari 11 This post should have a tweet embedded. As you can see (or can't see as the case may be) no tweet However, if I go to edit the post, I can see the placeholder I tried in firefox & that dreadful chrome browser & the tweet is visible. Any ideas? Ta much. edit: Have cleared caches & still can't see the tweet

Just for additional information, I have checked on some embedded tweets on another forum I am a member of (phpBB) & they show up via the safari browser without any problem. It seems to be only PB that is showing any display issues

Hi Steve I don't have safari so can't check it out for myself. One of the reds should be able to look, however. In the meantime, to rule out a couple of things, can you post it here, and if you disable any addons/extension in the browser does it then show?

Hi Craig I only have adblocker & have had it for years without any problems. I did have a look to see if there were any more I'd forgotten about, but there aren't any. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what this could be to be honest

After some testing this looks like there may be a bug or some other issue related to Safari on iOS. I have confirmed that this isn't an issue at all for Safari on Mac OS at all so there is some difference between the two.
A bug report has been filed and I'll let you know when I hear back.

Updating to the latest version of iOS (or iPadOS) should resolve this issue.

Updating to the latest version of iOS (or iPadOS) should resolve this issue. Thanks but this is happening on OSX still & only with Safari on proboards These widgets on our home page should all display tweets I put them there myself. The placeholders are there if I go to edit the posts themselves. I'll try to embed a tweet here There should be a tweet visible above this line ^^^^^^^^^. For me there isn't.

Hi,
That has something to do with your browser. As I stated in my first post, I am not able to replicate any issue in Safari on OSX on my own personal computer.
Do you have any sort of ad-blocker running?

stevecureboi, you stated you're using Safari 11, and the latest Safari version is 14 for the MacOS. Are you able to update your browser? That should fix the issue.

Thank you Michael & Scott . Mac OSX & Mac OS are two different things. I am using a 2009 MBP with El Capitan (OSX) and Safari 14 is only compatible with Mojave onwards (OS) Does this mean that in order to see tweets on PB forums with Safari, I need to buy a new computer or dump my browser of choice?

Thank you Michael & Scott . Mac OSX & Mac OS are two different things. I am using a 2009 MBP with El Capitan (OSX) and Safari 14 is only compatible with Mojave onwards (OS) Does this mean that in order to see tweets on PB forums with Safari, I need to buy a new computer or dump my browser of choice? The short answer is, if you are unable to upgrade to the latest operating system (which I am assuming your computer is too old for?), then yes. Additionally, if you go the new browser route you'd need the latest or the closest to latest browser possible with consistent updates (ie: make sure that OS support hasn't been dropped by the browser provider). The longer answer is that your OS has been unsupported by Apple since October 31, 2019. At the end of the day, ProBoards (or really, any other company/service) cannot guarantee that anything, especially if supplied by a third party will function on their platform on any OS that is no longer supported with the latest updates to its applications, even should they work on other parts of the internet. If you are no longer able to update your browser, you run a huge risk of not being able to use ProBoards or the internet as a whole as eventually sites will drop support for deprecated OSes and browsers because the cost of upkeep and security on unsupported platforms is exceedingly risky and expensive (both in time and money). I would also encourage you to consider an update just as an overall best practice. If your OS is no longer supported by Apple, then you're going to, in the long run, miss out on critical security updates, which could potentially have incredibly negative consequences. I don't mean this in a 'ProBoards doesn't care about your financial situation' way, but rather that planned obsolescence is an unfortunate reality of the tech world, and Apple is notorious for it. As such, it's always advised that you upgrade once your system is no longer supported, or at best run the risk of the internet slowly ceasing to function as expected, and at worst expose critical information to the whims of malicious parties. It may also be worth noting that Mac OSX and macOS (and OSX) are in fact the same thing. Apple rebrands its operating system nomenclature every few years. Mojave, El Capitan, etc are simply the version names of the operating system that Apple uses, that may or may not also accompany a larger product rebrand. It's effectively the same as how ProBoards iterates with code names, like Blue Dragon / Hydra (v5) and Phoenix (v6). It's all still ProBoards, though, just like it's all still [Apple's operating system].
