Hi - I have a user who's tried to login to my forum, he's tried both his email accounts but can't remember what his user account(s) is/are. Is there a simple form somewhere that he can submit his email account & get his forum account(s) back with? I'm playing middle-man here, he's physically distant & is a bit 'challenged' by what he's doing, so take that into account with your replies

Hi,
The best bet would be to use the "Forgot Password" feature and then enter his username, assuming he can remember it.
You should be able to see what email address is tied to the account on his profile.
If he can't remember any details about his account then there isn't much we can do to help.

Thanks Michael -
He's done the 'Forgot Password' dance, with 2 separate email accounts, and gets the password changed associated with the email BUT (as you alluded to) he can't remember his user account.
So, is there a way he can create another user account associated with his email account?
He's attempting to join a free forum I spun up, he hasn't used the other forums for long enough that he wasn't even aware he had account(s).
Other than seeing if he'd create a NEW email account to try again, is there any method you're aware of for him to query for usernames/accounts against his email account?

Hi,
Go to ProBoards.com and then use the email and password to login. There will be a forum dashboard with all of the forum accounts listed and all of the forums listed.
You don't ever need to use the username to login to an account. All accounts can use email and password to login unless the account is an ancient pre-v5 account that has not yet been linked to a global account.

Thanks again Michael -
I've forwarded your suggestion & will do the hand-holding to get him through it.
I'll reply back here with joy (success) or misery (something else to deal with ... aka, pre v5 non-global-ness).

Unless your forum is pre 2013-ish I don't think you have to worry about anything pre-v5. Those are generally fringe cases and most likely doesn't apply here. I just wanted to make sure others who may read this thread are aware of exceptions.

Thanks Michael -
I'm still waiting on his response, but I wanted to clarify something you said:
"Unless your forum is pre 2013-ish I don't think you have to worry about anything pre-v5. Those are generally fringe cases and most likely doesn't apply here."
Does that mean that it only applies if the forum he's trying to get into is the issue
or
Is the issue related to someone who's account was created pre-2013ish?
My forum is really recent (read: less than 2 weeks old) but his account(s) are significantly older (or so he said).

inthebtweenadmn, just to confirm, this user does have an existing account on your forum, correct? If so, do you know their username? If not do you know their email? If you know the email but not the username, can you PM it to me? Don't post it here.

Hi Scott - He doesn't have an existing account on my forum. He's tried signing up for my forum, gets the prompt for his account after trying to login with his email, then can't find/remember his account. I may be naïve, but I keep thinking there's a way a person can submit their email account, req. their forum account info, then this would all be a moot point I'll pm you the email account in a sec.

Hi,
I got the email address from Scott and confirmed that this user already has a global account (ProBoards Account), but no forum accounts.
When he goes to register an account he'll first put in his email. Then he'll be asked to use his password to login to his global account. If he does not know his password he needs to use "Forgot Password?" to reset his password to his email. Then go back and provide the password. Then he can enter a username and register his account on the next page.

Thanks Michael - if he can't resolve this I'm done. I'm not going to remote to his system & do it for him.
