Not sure if this should be in the games forum so the Admin/Mods are free to move it if they want to but as the title of the thread says it all, what is your favourite author, book or character?
I have read all of Lee Childs/Jack Reacher character books so he is my favourite author and Reacher is my favourite character but I do like also reading any of the books by...
Lee Child Jack Higgins Robert Ludlam James Patterson Michael Crichton M J Arlidge
to name a few and at the moment I have found a new author and books that I have started to read and that is books by M J Arlidge and currently about to 'Pop Goes The Weasel' but it will be an interesting read as James Patterson wrote a book with the same title?

Are you looking for a particular genre? If so (I take it you really like action/thrillers) then I can recommend - Baldacci, David. Some of his series are better than others.
If you want to know MY favorite book (and you do!!!) it changes almost weekly, but recently I read "The Ride of Her Life: The True Story of a Woman, Her Horse, and Their Last-Chance Journey Across America" written by - Letts, Elizabeth.
"I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ALMOST EVERYONE!!!
I am in awe of this book, Annie Wilkins, and even the time period. The early 1950s, when America was still unafraid to trust, loved an adventure, and wasn't glued to electronic devices! TV still wasn't as popular as it would get later in that decade.
This was an adventure, as it says in the synopsis, of a 63-year-old woman, her horse (soon to be two horses), and her dog. When Annie finds out that she is losing her farm and perhaps her life she decided to see the coast. Now mind you, she lives in Maine -already on a coast right? Now she wants to see the West Coast before she dies. She takes what money she can make while sick, buys a horse packs up, and just--goes! No map, no GPS, nothing!
The history I learned in her travels was, well words just can't describe what I felt. I learned things I never knew I needed to know! I was thrilled to find out that she even traveled through my home state and believe me I am going to be doing some research about that.
If you like nearly lost causes, horses, American travel, American trivia, history, adventure, then you simply must read this book. I will say that it drags in some places and it does not have a happy ending for all concerned, but it is still well worth your time.
*ARC supplied by the publisher, the author, and NetGalley. With my humble thanks for being able to read this early-I will be going to buy my own copy and will be reading more by this author."
As far as series go some of my favorites are written by Ilona Andrews. Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, and the late Janet Chapman.

Just finished the Lee Childs/Jack Reacher book 'Killing Floor' and will start reading 'Pop Goes the Weazel' as mentioned in my first post. I have read a few of Baldacci's books 📚 Dianne 📚 and not a bad read especially 'The Camel Club'.

Other than, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; both of which have been favourites since I was a child, I don't really have favourites but a lot of books I've loved. Favourites tend to remain on my bookshelf where others get donated. I enjoy most genres and will read pretty much anything although I probably would avoid crime and action thrillers (Sorry John lol). Recent books I've read that I particularly enjoyed were: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens The Final Revival of Opal and Nev by Dawnie Shelton Sherrilyn Kenyon is a favourite author when I just want pure escapism. dianne I just added your recommend to my want to read list. It sounds wonderful!

It sounds wonderful! I have what I call "comfort reads" it's a shelf on my e-reader of books that I re-read yearly if not more often. I read books (ARCS) as a sort of job and it's not all wine and roses! So I need books that I feel good about or just simply love the story. I'm glad to hear you are thinking of reading my recommendation, maybe you should try to take it out from the library.

I found reading it ok as I do like that type of book, the book below I found in a charity shop here in Edinburgh around 2000 and I bought it for a £1, it's about the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns and tells you all about his life plus some of his famous poems, its a lovely and nostalgic read.

SHADOW OF THE WIND by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and RULES OF CIVILITY by Amor Towles have recently climbed into my top-rated list.

All of these books I have read and sometimes over and over again, I class myself as a book worm and maybe one day I will count all of the pages of the books I have and read, I can't imagine what the total pages would be. Edit: That's just SOME of my books in the bedroom, I also have books in drawers and boxes.

If you create an account on goodreads and add all your books into it as read, it will tell you how many pages you've read

You say not all wine and roses but I'm still pretty jealous lol. If you have a Goodreads account, a blog or other account like that, and write reviews (and post them at Amazon or other institution like) for the books you read-get in touch with me and I'll tell you what to do. But I will tell you this-I used to be a judge at s state fair for pies. Almost all the pies were delicious and I had no trouble keeping a cool face for those. Yes, the bakers were watching us closely for our reactions. But imagine what we had to do when we tasted something gross... It's the same with the books. You catch something that really stinks and what do you do? Do you tell your true feelings and the heck with the publisher, and author (who knows if they even read these reviews) or do you try to keep your feelings to yourself and write a review that will guarantee you keep getting ARC?

I have a whole room filled with books and various books all over my house. I vowed I would never get an e-reader...but when my book collection exeded...oh, about 3000 books I gave in. This was back before yu could just get an app for your phone. I have a phone app, but I don't use it. I use my Kindle.

I could never toss a book in a bin as I would think that would be an insult to the author and publisher who took their hard earnt time in writing, read proofing and printing it, if I had books that I would need moving for space wise then I would give them to my local heart foundation charity shop for them to sell, I have purchased many a book in there. I worked as a Times Table Clerk here in Scotland many moons ago when I first left the army and that was the first job I took when I was de-mobbed, I had to do a lot of proofreading with up-dated times and fare tables ready for the publisher, it was a very brain-busting job as you would send the original away and wait until they came back from the publisher and you had to proofread them and look for mistakes in printing. Sometimes you would find mistakes in printing after they returned from the printer, you had to mark up the mistakes and send them back, sometimes you would have proofread them 3 times and returned until they got it right, I don't think I would like to do that with a book before printing, the Times Table Clerk bit gave me a headache so I can just imagine what it would be like proofreading a boo!!!!
