I've been preaching on this for so long, people assume the things they see from fake news sites are legitimate thankfully most of us know or I hope the difference between real and fake. You can never trust slide show news sort of sites. Social media has made it a lot harder for people to wake up and see what they're reading or watching may just not be rule. Despite the choices of our last president handling it or going at the media there was some truth to it as annoying as it was to me personally. Not to make this political.
A human will only believe what they want to believe without understanding sides from both parties. The press will do what they can to bring attention most of it being bad. Money is a huge factor if something sounds more exciting people will look and respond to that which will bring in viewers and cash into their pockets.

I think it’s very harmful to people with mental health issues.

Good luck to you. It's almost impossible to fight misinformation for one very frustrating reason: people believe what they want to believe above all else. The kinds of people who are most susceptible to fake news are the same ones who reject what might otherwise be considered an authority figure, such as a mainstream media outlet or a government agency (don't even mention one of those liberal elite universities). They will reject anything, no matter how well researched, simply because it doesn't conform to their views and desires.
That kind of person won't ever consider the story is coming from americanewspost.org.com.waifu.xyz.ca because they're being told what they want to believe is true for emotional reasons. "Why isn't the mainstream media covering this?" Because to the rational observer, it's a fake or deeply biased story, but to the proudly ignorant it's because there must be a conspiracy with special interests at play. This is especially true when a list of fake, unreliable, biased, and satirical news sites uses The Washington Post or The New York Times as sources; it just reinforces the idea that large actors are suppressing the little guy. (To be fair, any outlet calling out any other outlet doesn't exactly look good or inspire professional confidence.)
Kudos for appealing to the emotional aspect with the dare angle, but the emotional fragility that leads a person to embrace fake narratives also makes them react poorly to confrontation. Still, I support the effort.

It doesn't matter what the subject is, if it affects health, safety, security, your futurre etc, i ALWAYS check bonafide sources The best place to start is government websites, national health sites, reputable news sites for information It's often a good idea to check multiple sources in some circumstances.
If you get an email or phone call saying they are from your bank for example, go to your bank's website or call them yourself.

Absolutely. Check out your government's advice/policy [which, in this country, they state they can't legally or lawfully force anyone to wear a mask whilst going anywhere in public. Nor can any establishment insist you wear a mask. Nor can any establishment 'lawfully require' that you provide 'proof of medical exemption'...this is classed as discrimination. You don't legally have to provide proof for not wearing a mask]. What is going on in the world, doesn't only depend on the 'mainstream media news'. Just take the bother to read your country's laws...it's that simple. That's just one Covid fact that not many are aware of.....due to the mainstream media brainwashing and scaremongering...at least in my country.
No conspiracy here, just certain facts hidden in plain sight.

quick reminder that the US was losing more than three thousand people per day from Covid just a few months ago. We lost 600,000+. That's dropped 90% in the last few months (gee, I wonder why!).
Besides having survived Covid myself, I have numerous young friends who had pneumonia. Some of them lost loved ones. Post-vaccine- "I felt bad for a day or two."
This is middle school biology and simple statistics.

The number of people screaming that it's a violation of "HIPPA" to be asked if they've been vaccinated is insanity. It's also HIPAA. Private businesses and public locations CAN ask for proof of vaccination and they can also legally prohibit entrance if that information is not supplied or refused. Businesses can turn away any customer for any reason that is not a legally protected class (such as age, race, gender, disability, etc). Public schools do this all the time. They simply will not accept enrollment from any student that doesn't have full proof from a doctor of vaccinations. The same applies for masks. If the business owner requires them, you can be told to leave if you are not wearing them, and can have the police called on you for trespassing if you don't leave.
The amount of misinformation being spread, especially in times of Covid just irks me. HIPAA only protects you against medical personnel discussing your medical information with anyone that you have not given direct written permission to.
"Business calls doctor to ask if Sally has been vaccinated" --- HIPAA violation. "Business asks Sally if she's been vaccinated, refuses her entry when she refuses to disclose" --- not a HIPAA violation.
