Hello Proboards people! I hope you're having a fine weekend. I apologize in advance if this is an issue that has already been brought to your attention, but I've been receiving complaints regarding the placement of advertisements and they're two different issues with a common cause. These issues started recently (within the past couple of days). In some cases, people on mobile are having a difficult time because ads are covering where they're entering text which is definitely no good. Here's a screenshot from a user which displays it: This user is using a Chromium browser (Samsung Internet) and stated that Chrome is doing the same thing. So it looks like it's browser specific-- if this is unintended. I mean, I can't imagine it being intended. People need to see where they're typing. The second issue is the square advertisements-- or the chunky lads, as I call them-- overlapping HTML elements: This user's browser is Chrome (92.0.4515.107) on a PC. He's told me that it is not specific to advertisements from that one company and happens randomly. Are there any solutions to this? Thanks in advance.

Hi, this should be fixed now. Browser cache may need to be cleared to see the update.

Hi bartlesby. Was fixed for a couple of days but I'm afraid it's gone wonky again. The ad seems to be in a fixed/sticky footer div again. Major problem if you're using a phone in Landscape Mode. Scrolling down to hit Create Post with the keyboard still onscreen only leaves about 1cm of space. Thanks.

Can you please provide a screenshot of the issue with the keyboard on the screen, and more details about what specific device and browser is being used?

It may be of help to some, or not to others, but Adblock Plus comes in Android flavour as well, and there is the option to block elements on the page you're viewing. It works exceedingly well on Opera and Firefox chez moi, so I don't see why it shouldn't be equally as effective on Android-based systems.

Hi, Please do not use adblock on our service. Advertisements are how we are able to provide you with a free forum platform. We also offer PB+ (unlimited personal ad-free) and forum ad-free if you would like to not see advertisements on our service. Using an adblocker is a violation of our Terms of Service.

I realise the benefit that advertising has and on my computer it is not intrusive on this, or my, forum, but there are many other sites, eg Daily Mail in the UK, where the adblocker mentioned achieves a readable result. Sorry to have suggested it.

Sorry to have suggested it. I understand and appreciate you attempting to help a fellow member. This is a thread discussing advertisements on our service and attempting to help a member with a specific and unintended issue. This is not the appropriate venue for discussing adblockers. Thank you for understanding!

We've put live some changes so that screens with smaller dimensions, when in landscape mode, will not float the ad on screen. If you rotate between portrait/landscape, the ad should change position based on the mode. Additionally, we previously introduced changes that should already prevent ads from being displayed on screen when typing a message on the forum. If you still are seeing ads while typing a message, as I indicated in my last post, please provide more details about the type of device you are seeing this in, what browser is being used, and a screenshot showing it happening. Please be sure to clear your browser cache to get our latest changes.
