Greetings! I have three questions regarding the Advanced CSS functions; 1. Is there any way to change the color of my text cursor/caret when it hovers over a BBC Preview for posting? The forum skin I am currently working on is a mid-level gray which basically causes the caret to disappear and thus make any highlighting within the posting window very difficult.
2. Does the Font Size function work on a relative scale? It seems like if I change one font size function it goes about changing several others that I can only surmise are subsidiary of the one I have changed? I'm mostly just trying to understand what the rules of how it functions are so I can make best use of them.
3. Is there a way to reset an Advanced CSS setting to default?
Thanks!

Hey If i am understanding correctly, you should be able to add this to the bottom of your stylesheet to change the caret colour, but unfortunately you can only do so for the bbcode editor and not the preview. .bbcode-editor textarea { caret-color: #ff0000; } Changing fonts in the visual editor can change the font in multiple places. You can target more specifically using CSS and the stylesheet. If you want to chaneg a specific font, let me know which one and i will tell you what you need to use. For the 3rd. Are you referring to the advanced css as a whole or a specific setting? For a specific setting you should just be able to remove what is entered in for that setting and then save. If you are having trouble doing that, or finding the specific settings, let us know which one and hopefully we will be able to direct you in the right direction.

So when you say the bottom of the stylesheet, can you elaborate on that? Imagine you're speaking to someone who has nooooo idea how this works at all. I tried adding it both to the very bottom below the closing } bracket then between it and the final screen-only command and neither changed the caret. So to be more specific, I am referring to the Advanced Styles Visual Editor. The issue I am running into is I am finding that if I change the text settings for one area, sometimes it changed the text in another area. For example, I edited almost all of the sections' text settings to Tahoma, Verdana roughly .9em across the board BEFORE I edited the all-around text of the forum. It appears the only way I can change the text at the very bottom of the footer is by changing the general text settings of the forum but by doing so, it changes a bunch of other text settings throughout. So predominantly my question is, do the text settings work, in certain instances, relative to one another and if so is there a way I can better understand that to make the best use of it? Advanced CSS. What I find happens when I delete the HTML color code and don't replace it is it defaults to transparent so instead of resetting to whatever the previous, default setting was, it causes whatever text I was editing to visually disappear.

Sorry, yes, just add it to the bottom of the sheet, so after everything else. I tried it on my forum and it changed it, but it will only change the bbcode editor and not the preview, unfortunately. If it still doesn't change it, could i ask for you to link to your forum so i can see if something may be interfering.
Some areas of the forum will inherit the font from somewhere else. There is not an entry for each specific area of the forum in the visual editor. You can target specific areas with css, so for example, you mentioned the footer part. What would you like to change there and how would you like it changed?
If you remove what was there, it should revert to default, but that means it could adopt a colour from another setting further. For example, you can change text in containers, and then further change it in posts. If you remove the colour in posts it should inherit what has been set for the containers.

Gotcha. I've tried it again and still no luck. The link to my board is unifiedwa.proboards.com . If you need to be able to get into the Advanced CSS or anything like that to see what's blocking me just lemme know. Honestly there's enough things that changing the General Forum Text size has goofed up that I can't find a way to alter within the Visual Editor that I'm almost thinking setting that to fix all of the other stuff then using the Style Sheet to do the footer. There are a few other small things throughout that aren't my top priority but it would be nice (IE the general link hover changes the text to white with an underline however there are a couple of spots where I would like it to highlight to a blue.). I see. In that case I will forego much erasing to default as to avoid this butterfly effect dynamic.

Greetings! I went ahead and added it in there. The theme is XWAZone: Blue which should be the default theme atm for guests. Alas, the caret is not changing color so if anyone gets a chance to check out what's going on there it would be greatly appreciated. =)

Acknowledged Geode, Craig's solution targets the cursor after you have clicked into the text area. After looking closer at the issue I see now you are referring to the cursor the hovers over the text area. There is no CSS or code that can change the color for this because that cursor is an image. You can however replace the image that is used for the beam cursor.. Try this code and let me know how it goes: .bbcode-editor textarea { caret-color: #fff; cursor:url('https://storage.proboards.com/6322676/images/sJmZSqSMcRpjwMOmNJ0c.gif'), auto; }
