Hi...
I am about to host a radio show for the site I run. I installed the thread sidebar. It has an Extra Cell where you can use HTML coding. I am just looking to embed an RSS Feed for my Radio show. Each time I put the RSS FEED code in. It just shows the whole code and not the actual RSS FEED image which should appear.
Can someone help me with the correct code to get the RSS Feed I am trying to embed in the Thread sidebar extra cell to work..
Thanks

Most (if not all) browsers have dropped or just never included a native feed reader so that would explain you getting a view of the plain markup rather than the rendered code (you would now need to install an extension/addon to render). In the old days, you could drop an iframe with the src pointing to the feed but that was not ideal because not all browsers supplied native support so many users would be left in the dark. There are (and used to be a lot more) services called feed readers (aggregators) that will render the feed and offer an embeddable code which you could then insert into your sidebar as HTML thus catching every browser that should at the very least know how to read HTML. I used to use a service at feedburner.com many moons ago (before Google bought it and killed it off sometime in 2015) but I am not currently in the know on which services are considered good nowadays. The service at the very least must meet some minimum criteria such as allow for adding any feed and not just a premade list of curated feeds and it must also offer an embed option. Check out this list on Wikipedia and do your research.

I've been playing with this, and I have found 1 that works (ish).. Surfing Waves RSS WidgetBUT, you cannot add it directly into the extra cell of the RUTs plugin, all I get is the HTML of the widget showing up.. What I did to get it to work is copy/paste the widget into a div in the Global Header, and then use JS to move it into the extra cell... Add this to your Global Header... <div id="RSS_Feed" style="display: none"> Copy/Paste the widget code here... Change rssfeed_frame_width to 100% </div>
And put this into the Extra Cell of the RUTs plugin.. <div id="RSS_here"></div> <script> $('#RSS_here').append($('#RSS_Feed').html()); </script>
