I'm glad you're only slightly symptomatic. We need our resident bookworm to stay safe. Yes, who else is going to bore everyone with all that talking about books that I do! BTW- I have a recomendation for you! Ooooo, sweet!!!

There's a bunch of different OTC COVID test kits now. At the CVS I manage, I've got BinaxNow, Quickvue, FlowFlex, and Ellume. I'm sure there's all sorts of others elsewhere. I don't see the results of these tests as 100% necessarily, but if I test positive with one of them, it tells me I need to go get an official test elsewhere. I'd compare it to a pregnancy test. How is your CVS keeping up with demand? The Rite Aid that my husband supervises runs out just hours after delivery I've been able to keep them in stock at all times these last couple months. Couldn't say that when they really took off last year though. I'd say the big gap between these spikes in demand allowed for manufacturers and retailers to get caught up. At times, I've had to go to other stores and transfer a case or two to my store, doing a favor for that particular SM. Now that Biden is going to make private insurance pay for eight test kits per person each month, I could see in stock being a problem again. With it being free, I can only assume that a number of individuals will take advantage of that offer each month whether they actually need them or not. Plus, the limit CVS is enforcing is actually six at the moment.

These are a major part of the strategy in the UK. The false positivity rate is really low, and if you’ve got a positive, it should be trusted and reported in whatever way your country reports results. In the UK, we aren’t actually confirming lateral flow positives with PCR anymore as infection rates are so high that the chances of it being a false positive are pretty slim.
False negatives are different as the window where they are sensitive enough to pick up positives is smaller than a PCR, so if someone is symptomatic but negative on lateral flow, they should get a PCR test anyway.

The recommended guidelines keep changing regarding quarantine, so I would ask my doctor. I trust the positive results. Nailed it 👌 I was going to suggest the same thing.

My family is completely double-vaxxed and my wife and I are boosted. Sadly, we all just got COVID yesterday, so we are in quarantine.
My wife and first born are the worst with the rest of us showing mild symptoms and feeling fine. If my wife's condition is any indication, without the vaccine and booster, we might have buried her already.
We did tests at the Urgent Care, so did not use the over the counter ones, but my wife had gotten some from the government a few days before. We only got seven. But with work and school, we needed to know sooner rather than later, so we went with the safe bet and went to the doctor.

I'm sorry your wife and first born were hit so hard even though they had been vaxed. I feel the same as you, if we hadn't been vaxed then one of us would have ended up in the hospital.

I like ForumPromotion.net pregnancy test analogy here. Trust self testing if it's positive (then go see a doctor) and don't rely on a negative test because it might be wrong. Wear a mask and keep others safe.

The kids seem to have rebounded the best. I had a rough day yesterday, but I appear to be on the mend. My wife is still bad.
