As in "Yeah- we are totally late to this NetFlix Party"
Since there's not much on TV these days we been burning up a lot of NetFlix lately. We're discovering the old series (like many, many seasons stuff)We're also discovering that we no longer sleep(Like a good train wreck, some of this stuff is just too hard to stop watching )Just finishing "The Imposters" (highly recommended) I turned to my DH and asked, "Now what- want to find another"His weary response - "I'm sorry dear - I think I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment right now"
Anyone else have a real problem with putting this stuff down???

Not really. I'm someone who prefers to watch start to finish, but I can easily make that last as long as I need without binging. Most of the shows I watch are not on streaming, so I use my DVD collection.

Season 1 ends and instead of having to wait til next year - here it is now. Let's start watching it

As mentioned in another thread, I do like a good solid binge series. With the foreknowledge of a final episode.
The problem with on demand stuff is getting really interested just before the show is cancelled.
Of course Covid has destroyed a lot of filming schedules recently. I've taken to re-watching old stuff from TV.

There was a research study done that showed watching more than two episodes in a row of a series in one day can disrupt your sleep later. Something about the brain deciding it must be important and dwelling on it.
The only time I’m worried about starting a new series is if it’s going to end abruptly (Anne With an E, Firefly) or if it’s going to be too violent (not my thing).

Oh~ Firefly. Yeah, that killed me being left hanging like this The violence gets to me too. I do like 'mysterious things', but this stuff with people being kept captive in basements & stuff. My brain tells me that stuff is currently going on (so does the news) so for me - it totally freaks me out seeing that on the TV and 'knowing'.

I'm more hesitant than anything to start Netflix shows due to liking to watch what I'm currently watching before I do so.

We started Roseanne about a year ago when it was on, Hulu? I think it was. I watched that show through and through 3+ times on their airings during Nick at Nite in the early-mid 2000s, but my wife had never seen the show. We got to like S04 or so, when Hulu pulled the series. My wife was heartbroken for an hour or so

I've recently started going back through Stargate SG1 on Netflix, because it appeared there and apparently hasn't been taken off within a short time as I thought it would have been before I started the show. It is an appropriate show to do some binge watching on, and picking which season you would like to end on. The initial ending season for the show, was supposed to be season 5, and then it got a lease on life after that, with each season ending being a cliffhanger with the idea that the show could have ended with that cliffhanger. Lasted 10 seasons.
If you want to watch it, I recommend finding a copy of the first episode that cuts out 1 scene from the hour and a half episode (some copies of the episode is split into a two part episode). As there is a scene that was added to it that isn't exactly friendly to younger audiences. It is the only time the show had that type of content, but the rest of the show ended up getting the "Nudity" tag in netflix because of that one scene in the very first episode.

It's funny because they were always worried about it being cancelled, but then they thought they had been saved, so the 10th season was NOT set up as a cliffhanger. But it wasn't an end either. Enter two movies. Be nice if all three series were on Netflix. Save me from changing DVDs so often.

The biggest thing you should be worried about starting a new Netflix series is whether it'll still be on Netflix by the time you finish it.

If you haven't seen "Schitts Creek", make sure you catch all the series, before October, it leaves Netflix then. I so loved all the series , such fun, each series became funnier, - as the characters all showed their own weird and wonderful personalities - have a nice Friday all, & weekend xxxxx
