Hi,
Depends on which permissions you're referring to. If you're talking about permissions for accessing categories and boards you'll find those (per board/category) in Admin>Structure>Categories and Boards.
If you're referring to permission to access different forum features (like the ability to ban or delete members) you would find those controls in Admin>Members>Member groups. Remember that you'll need to add members to any group you create or any existing group!

Not really. There are a number of permissions for different aspects of the forum. If you're looking for permissions for a member, that's not possible - as permissions are based off of groups. If you want 1 member to have a specific set of powers, you'll have to create a group for that one member and put them in it. There are also other permissions, as Michael stated above, regarding certain category/board access - but even those are based on groups. So, no, it's not "pretty self explanatory", as your subject is to vague given the scope of what you're asking. Also note, that your thread body text should have been more substantial - it also violates this board's rules ( support.proboards.com/page/tsrules#sup ), particularly Step #4: Note: the highlight and bolding were added by me.
