How To Add Threads To Custom Pages?

I have created a custom page and would like to show a thread with its most recent posts. I understand there is a widget that does this "Recent Threads/Posts" but it does not have every thing I need. Is there a way to pull in threads on Custom pages using variables or is there a way that threads can be pulled in with a plugin.

You would have to ask on the plugin side here: Plugin Request Board

There is no way to do it via templates / variables (most of the template variables do not work on the custom page, as the custom page has different active variables; you can find the variables you can use on the right-hand side of the screen when viewing the HTML tab of any given custom page).
