My hubby bought a computer before 2000 and it gathered dust for a couple of years. I seem to finally make my first post on a crocheting website. I joined for about two days.
I was looking for answers to a Warner Bros movie that I think came out in 2002. So that was the first real site I joined. I joined several other sites after that. A friend drug me to a Proboards site around 2010. I like the way it's set up and now I'll stick around here for as long as I feel comfortable.

I couldn't help it. Back in the 80's my little brother was 10 years old programing computers in the gifted class. He kept telling me, "You have to get one. Computer's are the way of the future!" I'd roll my eyes at him. He'd send off for these magazines full of codes, then spend days typing them in on his pieced together computer just to play the game the code was for. He said that I could use computers to store in all of my cooking recipes. You don't want to eat my cooking. So, my first few posts end up showing someone how to crochet. Weird thing -I couldn't see her. I laughed so hard.

Starting in the 80s, I ran my own bulletin board system (bbs) through my computer, a second phone line in my home and a 300baud modem. My forum became pretty popular in the late 80's into the 90's where I lived. The bbs had forums, games people could play, chat rooms, and files they could download. I still have friends from those days. When people called, I could see what they were doing on my computer and it was always a treat for a bbs visitor if the sysop (system operator) jumped in and said hi. I loved doing that. We were kind of minor celebrities in the computing world, haha. At the time, it was not common for a female to run a bbs, so I like to think I was a pioneer in forum history. Good memories. good to know, most of my online forum knowledge was in late 90s or early 2000's. harkens me back to simpler times... have a good day!!

My first RPG experience was a Ranger's Apprentice forum in Dutch that I forgot to bookmark so I was never able to find it again lol! Then I RPd on a Warrior Cats site for a loooong time. Only started RP in English three years ago.

I remember I joined my first forum, Glitch City Labs in late 2006. I was a complete noob and posted some cringe stuff. I then joined Titans Go which was a Teen Titans fan forum. I'm surprised the staff put up with me on there, I almost got banned and didn't figure out until the board was placed in read only mode and the staff forums were public.

Some of the girls & guys met on here go back years but then they just disappear, Butch was one of them who passed away around 4/5 years ago. He used to go on hunting trips, wish us all well and say "see you all in 2 weeks time...." then come back and let us know all about the trip went but this particular time he disappeared for about 3 weeks and we all wondered where he was until someone found out he had passed away while on holiday. We were all shocked as he was a lovely guy and we all miss him and his stories about his hunting trips to this day. He created a thread called Daily Inspirational's & Quotes which is now in the Games Archives, a popular thread once upon a time.

my earliest was making forums in the early late 90s.. I think I made about 5-6 forums... never could get anyone to join...lol!!!! but I loved making skin themes.... its therapy for me. I know i'm weird! I wonder does Proboards do skin theme contests anymore? I haven't been on here in a long time and wondered if they still do that? If not... boo hoo hoo... I would definitely do it. I'm happy that I got a new forum and pretty much happy with what I have so far. I remember coming here and posting here on Proboards and a GM forum. Its nice to come to a forum where everyone respects each other.

My earliest memory of forums was actually ProBoards: Solid Snake Designs. Man, I really miss those days.
