Forum URL: gerbilforum.proboards.com/In attempt to fix it, for 'Display Large Images' I turned off 'reduce size to fit post width' (is now back on), I speculated that as well as shrinking down big images, it might be blowing up small images to fit the post. It made no difference. If you right click that 1st image and open in a new tab, it'll open at (it would appear) it's native resolution and therefore much clearer. I know you can edit the width % in BBCode to bring down the size (as I did in the above thread), but this is hassle and most people won't know how to. I simply want the photo posted at its native resolution. Although it would be better if we could limit big photos to post width (to avoid side scrolling), and not stretch out smaller images to fit if that's possible. Any ideas?
I wonder how that photo looks on your forum here..... [edit] Yep that's fine here (pic is a bit blurry anyway) [edit2] Interesting that your forum adds max width 100% too, but the photo is still much smaller here, weird! Or is it the native res and it's just a very blurry pic? I'm confused....
On checking it after downloading it I see it's res is 2592 x 4608, so am I right in thinking it's just a blurry image which benefits from shrinking down? lol And presumably it's smaller and clearer here because the post width is smaller here?

Markpd - Regarding the img attributes "width" and "max-width" - Width is the actual width of the element whereas max-width is the highest the width attribute can be. Max-width is just the limit for the width attribute. If you look at the specs for the image on your forum it shows that the original image width is 2592px, but because of the max-width attribute it is being displayed at a width of 1308px so that it fits within the post rather than fill the post. The Display Large Images setting in the admin panel settings basically does the same thing as the max-width attribute. It reduces the size to fit the post width. It doesn't enlarge the image to fill the post. Markpd - you may wish to ask the member the particulars about how they are taking the photo and uploading for use on the forum. Maybe something in the process is altering the image?

Yea as I mentioned above I originally thought the pic had a lower res than the screen/forum, and wondered if the pic was being stretched to fit. Then I discovered it wasn't, and it was just a blurry pic which was benefiting from being shrank down (when I dropped max width to 50%). But good to know that setting won't stretch smaller images
