Question: Have I got it right so far? I have a ProBoards forum that I set up less than a week ago, crawling, but definitely not toddling, let alone walking, at this time.
I am an individual (balding, computer literate, gardening etc) person.
I have but one email address.
I decide to install and run a ProBoards BBS system for me and my friends.
I REGISTER and then LOGIN with my email address, install ProBoards, launch a forum, and am happy. Happy because the installation and setup went flawlessly.
(1) I wear two hats, one is called “Admin” and the other is called “ChrisGreaves”
(2) But I can’t log in as “Admin”, and I can’t login as “ChrisGreaves”
(3) I must always login using my unique email address.
(6) This one login will be used whether I want to sign in as myself and post an interesting message on my forum, or whether I want, as a regular user, to post a question like this in the Support Forums.
(7) This one login will be used whether I want to sign in as the Administrator and post an interesting message on my forum, or whether I want, as an Administrator to post a question like this in the Support Forums.
(8) In short, the login identifies me as a living breathing human being, and it is only after I have logged in with a case-sensitive email identifier (NOT, as the screen suggest, with a User Name) that I can decide whether I am wearing the Admin cap or the ChrisGreaves bonnet.

So far so good.
Then: I become confused:-
(2) But I can’t log in as “Admin”, and I can’t login as “ChrisGreaves”
(3) I must always login using my unique email address.
(4) And whereas internet email systems are case-INsensitive, ProBoards is case-sensitive when recognizing email addresses.
(5) So when logging in to a ProBoards installation, I must be sure to remember whether at installation time I used ***@GMail.com, or ***@Gmail.com, or ***@gmail.com or any other variation.(6) This one login will be used whether I want to sign in as myself and post an interesting message on my forum, or whether I want, as a regular user, to post a question like this in the Support Forums.

(9) As a corollary, excepting for me, anyone else who registers on my forum will have only one hat, with their UserName printed on it, but still using their unique and case-sensitive email address to log in.
(Five minutes later) swapping my roles from ChrisGreaves to Admin and posting as such is another matter which I will explore once I know I have these preliminaries correct)
Thanks, ChrisGreaves
