Add Calendar event with NO thread?

Thanks for your help. I've searched a bit and can't seem to find if there is a way to add a Calendar event without posting a thread. Is that possible? 

I really just want to be able to have my members be able to look at the calendar and see what is happening. No thread, no questions. Just the date and event name. 

If this will work, please let me know how.
