Pictures not showing on forum

Hello. 
I can't seem to show pictures on my forum for some reason. I've not had any problems before, it just started this morning.
I'm trying to post a picture for my Spot The Ball game, link below.

Are you using the insert image button to paste the images, and if so, are you remembering to remove the 'http://' that is already there? Forgetting to remove it does end up showing a post with a blank source for the image.

I am using Windows 11 and I have the images on my PC as jpgs. I right-click the image and select OPEN WITH and then select Photos.
When the picture comes up in Photos, I right-click and select COPY and then PASTE it onto the post on my forum.

I've always done it this way but now, for some reason, it doesn't appear anymore.

No, it's not a plugin. As I've explained, I simply used copy and paste to insert the images.

I understand that, and I am not doubting that you were able to copy paste images.

But the thing is, in the entirety of PB's history, going back to literally 2000, copy/pasting images has never been included in the software. So, logically, there are only a handful of possibilities to explain both statements (that PB doesn't have this feature + you experienced the ability to do this):

- it didn't happen on a PB forum, but rather on another provider
- you previously had a plugin or header/footer code that allowed it installed on your forum
- you were using the attachment feature unknowingly

Since the first possibility seems improbable, that leaves the last two. Unknowingly using the attachment is a possibility, but comes with more steps than just using copy/paste so also seems unlikely. That just leaves us with the plugin/code.

Again, I am in no way trying to invalidate your experience, but the fact of the matter is PB doesn't, and hasn't ever, supported this feature natively, so there needs to be an explanation as to what allowed you to accomplish it.

EDIT: Looking at previous threads, the image URL references google drive... is it possible you were copy pasting from your google drive / google photos / google documents? If you were, those come with URLs natively so you could theoretically copy/paste images from there since that would grab the URL too.

Just trying to eliminate options here.
The previous pictures do look to be stored on Google Drive, and you can also download a program from Google to include it in Windows Explorer, but copying it from Explorer doesn't give you a working link like you can get from the Google Drive webpage.

If you go to photos.google.com/ are your images there?

If not, and you're sure there's not a plugin involved (such as Auto-embed image links), my only other suggestion is maybe you can provide screenshots of the steps that you take (I know you've already explained the steps, but images are helpful sometimes, too).

Edit: That'll teach me to take a break in the middle of typing a post.

There are two plugins that I know of that would allow you to copy and paste images directly into the preview tab instead of the URL; one is the word count plugin. The other is the paste ease plugin.

Do any of this sound familiar, and if so, was there a recent change to the forum affecting a plugin or a code offering the feature?

• _{neither of the plugins above or the header/footer code can do data-uri embeds since Proboards did not support it the last time I checked but if there was an actual URL embedded within the image metadata then the platform would accept and not scrub the pasted image. If the method you described using once worked then something has changed, perhaps win11 no longer passes along URL data or the application used to save/create the post locally no longer includes that data. First, thank you Kami and Gecko for taking the time to try and help me.



Because I've always done it the same way, my first thoughts were that it was a PB error but after reading both your comments, I realize that the problem could be stemming from what I’m doing because the pictures are in fact stored on Microsoft OneDrive.



So, with step-by-step screenshots, this is what I do.



Step 1, select a picture from a folder in OneDrive.







Step 2, right-click the picture, move to Open with and then Photos.







Step 3, the picture I appears in Photos.











Step 4, I right-click the image and select Copy.



Step 5, I paste it into the Spot the Ball post.

Hi.

With all the help and information found in this thread, I am now using a different method to insert the images. Namely by using the insert image choice and then selecting Direct link from the third-party host.

I hope that follows Proboards rules.

While I think I understand the comments above, it still baffles me as to why I can't simply copy and paste as I've always done. It seems likely that the solution is somewhere in Chris's post.

I enjoy sifting through the help articles and posts in Proboards to find solutions and that is something that will always keep me coming back. I cannot thank the members and staff enough.
