Forum URL: talkforus.freeforums.net/I spotted a thread on these support forums where it explains how to appear on google searches, but the link provided by the proboards support at the time doesn't appear to be working properly, - I wonder if anyone can help on this?

Quote by you: Did you follow all the directions that Google gave you? Perhaps a thread I made a while back might help you. Forum URL: bigballofyarn.proboards.comI've noticed that certain public parts of my forum are not being indexed with/by Google while others are. I went to Google to see what my options were, but I wasn't sure whether or not I had access to the things it required of me. Can you confirm or deny whether I have access to these things? Method 1:Upload an HTML file to your websiteAdding the file as an attachment to a public thread didn't satisfy them. Method 2: Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site's home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.Putting it in the headers of my home page clearly wasn't the right approach. Method 3: Use your Google Analytics account.
I don't have one. So, I didn't try this. Method 4:
You must have the "publish" permission for the Tag Manager container.
I didn't know what this was and didn't try anything here.
Hey You can't do the first one. For two, you will want to go into the Forum Wrapper in your layout templates, and you can put the meta tag just above the </head> tag there.Give that a go, and see if it helps at all.

Yes, - that's exactly what I did, or so I assume. Although I'm not clear as to what a meta tag is, - I copied and pasted the forum url.

roytwingThis is what a meta tag looks like, (from my forum). You will have to go to the Google Analytics site and create your own one, don't use this one as it won't work on your forum. <meta name="google-site-verification" content="crbVjnr2KrZWyDeEZl6LB9gyrhqUFw4HiU3Ej_Gl12s" />

roytwing - I see a Google verification meta tag correctly placed in your forum wrapper.

roytwing - I see a Google verification meta tag correctly placed in your forum wrapper. Does that mean that the job is already done, and the forum is as visible as it can be?

If/where your forum appears in Google can depend on a lot of factors including how people search, how much content you have available to guests, people's web history, and more. For example, my phone and laptop receive different Google results when I'm in the same house on the same WiFi network because my browsing habits are different on each device. If I make a direct search for your forum, I do find it.

Your site is coming up in google. Bare in mind it will take a little while for google to fully index your site. www.google.com/search?q=site%3Atalkforus.freeforums.net
