Not Fitting In

Do you ever feel like you just don't belong in this world? I don't mean anything spiritual or eerie-I mean that I feel like I just can't keep up with technology, the world is  moving too fast for me. I've had my car for nearly 5 years and I still don't know how to operate some of the things in it. 


I really don't belong in this world anymore. Maybe I should become Amish or Mennonite?

The older cars are the best, I've had my 2004 Corolla for about 5 years now, it's starting to age and I need a new muffler but because of that the parts are so much cheaper imagine the repair cost on a 2023 computerized vehicle. A bit old school myself I stick to with what I know.

YouTube is a information bank if you don't know. I'm not saying watch one video and instantly think you can be a plumber by yourself but it is a constant way of learning tips and tricks. It's not really about fitting in but with what you're comfortable being around.

In the golden days of ProBoards, when it was filled with youngsters who posted continuously, I was much more in the loop as to the new terms, slang, etc. 

Personally, I just want to be that crazy artist lady who lives in the woods and only comes out occasionally to buy ice cream.

Slang is just one of my problems. I now have to practically read my books in front of a computer to understand the lingo the author is using. My problems seem bigger than something just to joke about (although I do joke). I just don't feel right living in this era, I don't fit in anymore. I don't understand so much about everything and everything is moving and changing too fast for me. I see so many people my age that are having fun living in this new age and they deal with the changes no problems. Even food when you eat out is so different what with fusion and other things. What happened to American resturaunts and food? lol

Even my husband loves all the worlds changes. Although one thing stays the same-the possibility of nuclear war. Maybe I'm just depressed more than normal; who know.

It does sound like that might be part of it. It's hard to let go with what you know and to venture into the unknown. Some find it exciting, others hang on for dear life to what they used to know, maybe in an attempt not to forget. I saw a video today about happiness, and basically happiness is gained in being in the here and now, being present in this moment, rather than looking backwards in time or forward.

HA!! I'm the same way. lol
Even though I like to sit and be quiet hoping nobody will notice me in public places, it's like a switch goes off and "BOOM" I couldn't be any more assertive with people so bipolar opposite from what I love, peace and quiet and peace of mind. The minute my shift is all over, I clam right up again. lol

People who don't know me say I have awesome people skills and I reassure them I don't lol but then they wouldn't understand, my brother is the same way and he too has to work with people just not as much as I have to, most the time he gets to work from home. My job, of all places, Costco. What makes it worse, standing in one spot for 6 hours having people ask you where everything is like I know exactly where it is and what time it got there. lol
