I'm not really much into horror movies, as I have bad PTSD reactions to sudden things, but I really liked The Lady in White from 1988. It's both funny and haunting. It stars Lucas Haas as a "schoolboy in 1962 upstate New York who becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding a series of child murders after he witnesses the ghost of a young girl who was murdered in his school's coat closet." It employs suspense and humor rather than gore. I also like Something Wicked This Way Comes for the same reason, but that one is more fantasy than horror.

Something Wicked This Way Comes is an absolute treasure! I love that movie. For me? I am BIGG into Freddy Krueger, I feel like my favorite one of his would be the OG Robert Englund.. Dream Warriors for me. I love it. I do like the new ones a bit, but not much. They are good don't get me wrong, but .. I just am not able to replace Robert Englund's performance. I think I spelled his name right? LOL.

Will always be the original Halloween from 1978 for me, watch it every year during the spooky season. I also liked The Lady In White and the Nightmare on Elm Street films, especially Dream Warriors which was my favourite during my teens. These days it's more the first film, but the third will always be right up there close behind.

wildmaven that sounds interesting! Wesley2005 as you can tell I am a HUGE Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers fan! Bones The original Halloween 1978 will always be a major part of my life as well and I am sadly not the biggest Freddy fan like most of my horror friends the Original, Dream Warriors, New Nightmare, and Freddy's dead are the only ones I really even prefer the rest werent that interesting.

I normally go by the wife's reaction watching them so I would say the only horror movie that really made the wife jump is Poltergeist.

Eh...I am always honest and been outspoken about it I did not like Freddy Vs Jason as a kid it was "Cool" but then you realize the script was badly butchered and that the people behind the film weren't very interested namely Ronnie Yu who had 0 interest/knowledge for and about either franchise, the snake level of them replacing the legend himself Kane Hodder as Jason for Freddy Vs Jason and then the overall fact not even Freddy had kills and it was all mostly ever Jason killing instead of either! the logic throughout were thrown completely out like Jason coming from New Jersey to Ohio? sedation working on a zombie? and the whole "Afraid of fire and water" its a heavy 6/10 for me on a movie rating lol! and yes I love the original nightmare on elmstreet its a classic! I normally go by the wife's reaction watching them so I would say the only horror movie that really made the wife jump is Poltergeist. Not a big horror fan yourself?

Nope, afraid not, I can remember watching a horror movie once when there was nothing else on worth watching then a few months later the wife decided to watch it and asked me if I had seen it before, I hesitated a bit and then said "no dear...", so we sat down together to watch it. As I knew all the scary bits I waited until a scary bit was ready to come up, the wife sitting beside me peeking through her fingers looking at the TV, when the scary bit came up I Jumped up and yelled AAAAAAAAHHHHHH, the wife screamed and jumped in the air then called me all the names under the sun.

Not sure if I have a favourite... but some of the best atmospheric horrors I've ever seen (albeit they're sci-fi) include the original Alien and the sequel Aliens.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre would probably be up there as well.

From the oldies to the new ones. I love horror. Found Footage is my main sub genre of horror. But I like slasher. Paranormal, and Demon horror is my second favorite.

Growing up I always liked watching Night of the Living Dead, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Carrie and Poltergeist were good, too.

I LOVE horror movies. I created a horror-themed forum forever ago that I never opened up.
I can't really choose a favorite but would like to shout out Candyman. (The orignal). It is a solid, excellent movie, full stop - but the horror elements are just A-plus, I think. The soundtrack is excellent as well, woth standout track 'It Was Always You, Helen'.
One horror movie that made me actually, physically flinch the first time I watched it (alone in the dark, naturally) was The Ring. At the very end, when... well, if you know, you know. Whew!
Also, I really love the original Japanese version, Ringu. Seriously, watch it.
