As far as aesthetics go, this is a huge improvement! It isn't to my *personal* taste, but I think that for your intended audience this will serve just fine. Don't worry that it's not to my personal taste — objectively, this is a vast improvement over previous, and since you aren't a design forum, legibility + easy to navigate is, in my opinion, all that matters.

The widgets on the home page with text are much clearer and easier to read, and you've removed things what would cause eye strain for guests.

The actual content on the boards looks fine to me. I do suggest trying to combine similar boards together to reduce how far down the home page needs to scroll, but it's not critical.

Overall, I'd say 7/10 which is a great score! Those 3 missing points are just that you could probably improve the theme by hiring a theme designer. If you can't / don't want to though and **you** are happy with the aesthetics, then 10/10 for accomplishing your goals :)

I first looked at your forum the last night and the thoughts that went through my mind were similar to what Kami posted. "This isn't how I would design my own forum, but this looks so much better. Mike did a good job. This is a big improvement."

I'm so happy that the second scroll bar is gone. I like that the "static color" background is gone and that all the colors are overall so much easier to read.

The blue "contributor" member group pops out a little too much for me, and it's a little annoying since it doesn't align with "Moderator," "Les," or "Dominic," but if it works for you, keep it.

I don't really think you need an archive board. In my opinion, there's no point in moving old threads into one board and keeping all your active boards with little to no topics. I also agree that combining similar boards would be a good idea. If you see that a section only gets a few threads over a long period of time, maybe that would be a good indicator that that section isn't needed as its own board. You have a few sections that seem to allow for sharing devotional videos. Those are definitely great to watch, but it might be confusing to someone who doesn't know where to post or find a certain spiritual video.

Ultimately though, this needs to work for you and for your members. We don't have to organize things the same. Different methods work differently for different forums.

What drove you remove the solid color background and put it back to a staticky background like the previous grey one? I'm not trying to be discouraging. It really does just hurt my eyes. Again, don't change it just because of me. If it doesn't hurt anyone else's eyes, maybe I'm the crazy one. I just don't want it to be the type of thing that bothers someone to the point of them not joining your forum. I want your forum to be successful.

I would say theres one particular person in this thread who has judged you majorly. You clearly stated you were looking on advice and opinions about your forums "visual" appearance. Not it's contents.  I would disregard all she said.
These forums are made to put your ideas to life. WHATEVER that may be! In my 20+ years using probaords, I've created countless forums ranging from all types of different subjects and ideas. She doesn't have to understand. if you ask me, you hit a soft spot and got her out of her element. Disregard her nonsense is my advice.
Listen to the constructive opinions and do whatever your heart desires within the standards and rules of proboards guidelines.
