Your account here could be hacked at any given time it's not about giving in but the idea of what we can do to improve security. Newer cars already have sos features yes but what about those older cars? Should they be forced to pay monthly when we can have features already built in for them. Whether they pay a monthly subscription or not would be the same regardless of the implementation method, surely? Things like trackers are usually subscription based because you will have a third party monitoring company that maintains the system and can be called upon when needed. So the monthly cost is the same whether it is in a digital plate or somewhere else in the car. Also, you still have the issue with them being older cars. Newer cars would have the new digital licence plates installed, whereas older cars would need them retrofitted, at a considerable cost I would imagine to get it fully integrated. And if you were to make it so they had to have digital plates, would that then be said to them to be forced to meet those costs? Nah man we're over thinking this way too much, it could be as easy as self installing a back up camera in a older car. Still a bit of a hassle but doable. But I get it new technology scares us it's been this way for decades. If regulated properly and safety is in check it could be a lot of less things we have to worry about and more benefits that it can provide. It's surprising we haven't caught onto this yet new technology takes time to be amazing.

You can buy OnStar (and other) smart mirrors to add to any car that doesn't already have that functionality. Being inside the cabin also makes them far less prone to damage, theft, or general tampering. Plus smartphones already have crash detection, SOS, tracking, etc.
I'm still not seeing any justification as to why this needs to be in license plate form. What makes the digital plate advantageous over other form factors? And again, how does the core concept of a screen get justified?
Make an actual sales pitch, don't take criticism of the idea (it's "neat" but impractical; they can't all be winners) personally and don't clap back with a tech bro-esque "you're just afraid, you don't see the vision of the future" type of response.

The last thing I need while driving is yet another lighted thing on a car. The headlights on some cars now just blind you. I'm sure vandals would love the fun of breaking digital license plates and then the cops would gladly give you a ticket for having a busted license plate. I have the same problem with oncoming lights. It's seems like every year there are more and more lights on the front of a vehicle. Headlights, fog lights, Christmas lights (LED's), all running at the same time.

Yes but it's fine for others to clap back a okay. Seems to be the on going thing here lately even when somethings just a discussion. You can't tell me how to respond just as I can't tell you like come on.
