I need help with my ticker plugin.
I can't figure out why the headlines are moving at different times and why
It doesn't start at 0% and doesn't stop when it's supposed to.
Can I please get some help?

I am very confused, sorry... Where is the link to the site? In your opening post, you said "link is above", and the words "The comforter" in your first post are linked, just going nowhere, the URL portion is empty, it just says:

So it just redirects to this thread.

I'm so sorry, but you're not really understanding me. I'm going to try to re-word this in bullet points so we can hopefully get on the same page:

1. I understand the problem is with your plugin.
2. You did not actually post a link to your site.
3. If you click the link in your first post, it just takes you back to this thread.
4. The reason for #3 is because you left the link portion empty.

Does this help clear up what I'm trying to say?

Maybe I'm missing something, but have you actually defined the speed of the marquee somewhere? I looked at both the plugin configuration and the HTML / CSS for that section but I didn't see any speeds being set.

Yes, if you set it via CSS. Otherwise you can do scrollamount as part of the marquee tag eg: <marquee Scrollamount=1>, I believe you can go up to 10.

Yes, if you set it via CSS. Otherwise you can do scrollamount as part of the marquee tag eg: <marquee Scrollamount=1>, I believe you can go up to 10.

Just to clarify, scrollamount isn't technically the speed setting - it dictates how many pixels the marquee moves on each scroll. The actual speed setting is scrolldelay - which dictates the pause (in milliseconds) before the next scroll occurs.

Pop these 2 lines in a place that accepts HTML and you can see:


<marquee direction="left" scrollamount="1" scrolldelay="60">Scroll Amount: 1; Scroll Delay: 60</marquee>
<marquee direction="left" scrollamount="10" scrolldelay="60">Scroll Amount: 10; Scroll Delay: 60</marquee>


They both have the same speed setting. The 2nd one goes faster because it's moving the marquee 10px at a time, whereas the 1st one is moving the marquee 1px at a time.


Note: By default, scrolldelay will ignore values less than 60, unless the truespeed attribute is present.

Just to note: Kami is NOT wrong with giving you scrollamount to act as a speed setting, as it can be used that way as seen in the examples I made. This post was just to clarify what scrollamount actually does.

I'm not using the marquee tag I'm trying to do this with css.
Although I would rather use a marquee tag.
I have my art plugin right now and thats the one I'm using css for
the marquee.
I still need alot of help with it though.
It seems to be starting in the middle of my span thats a problem
and my for loop is only setting one variable.
can you help please?

Unfortunately, I can't help you further. I don't have the necessary knowledge with keyframes and making a marquee with CSS. I have to pass this off to someone with more knowledge who can help you. Sorry.

I think before we can do anything to help, we need to figure out the intent. What is the reason you decided to do this with a plugin (presuming there's javascript involved as well) when scrolling text can be accomplished with HTML by itself?

I'm not saying it's "wrong" to do it this way, but if we understand your reasoning behind your choices, we'll be able to assist better to help you meet your goal / need.

I'm doing this because the marquee tag has come obsolete.
I do have a plugin that marquee's with that tag.
I don't know when support for that tag will end so
Now I'm doing with jQuery and css.
I hope that explains it all
