What is the creepiest thing you could hear, right before going to sleep?
"Now, just relax, we'll finish your surgery in no time, deep breath there you go.....
...
......
.... ... .... .... oh, hell, what is THAT?"

Maybe footsteps passing right under your window. Screaming foxes. Someone calling your name from within the house when you live alone. For me as a Californian, hearing an earthquake just before it hits.

For me as a Californian, hearing an earthquake just before it hits. Nothing like that freight train sound to get the heart pumping.

For me as a Californian, hearing an earthquake just before it hits. Nothing like that freight train sound to get the heart pumping. I always have that split-second flicker of hope that it's just an errant big rig that got lost and is driving directly past my house. Aaand then it starts shaking.

I see y'all's earth rumble and raise you a wailing tornado siren. Oh how I hate living in Ohio sometimes. But that's not really creepy.
Living alone, the distinctive sound of the front door unlocking would certainly creep me out and put me on edge.
Living alone in a farmhouse, I'm accustomed to creepy actually. Most of it I ignore. However, the echoing cacophony of coyotes yipping and howling as they move through the woods can be very unsettling. The sound seems to surround you and distance is impossible to determine. It feels like being under siege, with a deafening wail coming from the pitch black that engulfs the house.

Yep, if I go to bed I like the bedroom door open so I can hear things, if it was dead quite then I become restless and cant sleep, I love the sound of a dog barking in the distance or hear the noise of crickets at night or early morning. When I first started security work (night shift) and I went to bed in the morning, the wife would try and not make a noise like hoovering and I told her NO, if everything was dead quite then I would think something is wrong.

Yeah absolute silence is too deafening for me. I need to turn on some background white noise (fan, 12 hour youtube vid of fireplace, something) quiets it down nicely

Imagine getting in bed, the lights are out, you've got that whisper ASMR going right by your ear, you're drifting off... then you remember you forgot to actually turn it on and your phone is in the other room.

I'm sorry, I'm not able to imagine listening to whisper ASMR to fall asleep because that's already 1,000x creepier than anything that has been posted.

That one actually gave me the chilly willies though I don't need to think about that when dozing tonight, lmao

"Shhhhhh". Then you suddenly fall asleep while seeing a shadow.
