My computer icon has disappeared for no apparent reason anyway, How do I add a "My Computer icon" to my desktop in Windows 10 ? Any suggestions?
It worked fine and then all of a sudden the icon disappeared

Right-click on the desktop and choose "Personalize".
In the Personalization menu, click on "Themes".
Once in the Themes menu, click on "Desktop icon settings" under the "Related settings" heading. (Related settings might be a clickable menu in Windows 10 instead of a menu section heading, I'm not sure; unfortunately my PC automatically upgraded to Windows 11 and I've never been more underwhelmed by alleged progress.)
Once the Desktop Icon Settings window opens, tick the checkbox next to "Computer".
Click "Apply" and then "OK".
You will now have a "This PC" icon on your desktop. (Windows hasn't actually called it "My Computer" since XP. Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 all called it simply "Computer". It became "This PC" starting in 10, but I think it's a step backwards.)
