Three general questions regarding Admin Account Succession:
First, am I correct in assuming that ProBoards never deletes forums (solely) because of inactivity?
Second, if I, as the sole Admin of my forum, designate an Admin Successor and the succession agreement goes into effect, does my account remain at the Admin level in addition to my successor becoming an Admin, or is my account demoted to a lower level?
Third, can one Admin demote another Admin? In other words, if there is a conflict between two or more Admins, can one demote the other? Or is there a "Main" Admin that has power over all?

Yes. In fact, I had it open in another tab as I was writing my questions.
It is unclear what happens to my account if the succession agreement goes into effect. Specifically, it says, "An Admin Succession Agreement allows for the transfer of the Admin account to the successor, and thus a transfer of the forum."
Okay, so my successor becomes an Admin and the owner of the forum, but what happens to my account? Does it remain at the Admin level or is it demoted or even deleted?
The issue could become relevant if an owner/Admin disappears for 90 days, the successor takes over, and the original owner subsequently reappears. I understand that in that case, the successor remains as the "Main" admin, correct? I think I just answered my own question...LOL. Well, I'm still curious what happens to my account after an succession agreement takes effect and my successor becomes Admin.
Okay, let me ask a simliar question that is not necessarily related to Admin Succession. What is the procedure for transferring ownership of my forum to another individual?

Three general questions regarding Admin Account Succession: First, am I correct in assuming that ProBoards never deletes forums (solely) because of inactivity? This is generally the case. The main admin account is like the pink slip to a car. If the Succession Agreement goes into effect, then the admin account is transferred to the new owner — IF ownership transfer is specified in the agreement. One can specify that a member's powers be elevated but the forum never transferred. Regarding Ownership Transfer. The admin account is intrinsically linked to the forum and is the only account that has full unfettered powers, and so needs to be transferred to the new owner in a forum transfer. However, the new owner does not have to participate with that account. They may continue to use their own original account and only use the admin account when necessary. (See After the Transfer) The forum creator is the main admin that has power over all. Administrators (members in a group) may or may not be able to demote each other depending on the powers given the group. However, no one has the power to demote the forum creator (e.g. "admin", "main admin", "user-1"). I hope this helps?

Bob - Oops I was crafting a reply to your first post and didn't see you replied. Before I answer your other post, are there any other questions from what I just posted?

I guess I wasn't clear on the concept of "Main" Admin account versus lesser Admin accounts, but I am now.
But just to reiterate one final point: If a Succession Agreement takes effect, the old Admin account remains as an Admin, but is now subordinate to the Successor Admin who is the new "Main" Admin and new owner of the site, correct?

There are no 'new' and 'old' admin accounts... When you transfer a forum to someone else, you are giving them the Admin account and everything that comes with it, PM's and all.

Unless I'm still misunderstanding something, the ProBoard software allows any number of forum members to be granted the title of "Admin", just like any number of members can be made "Global Moderators" or "Moderators".
I was simply unaware that there was a functional difference between "Owner" Admins (the actual owner of a forum) and other, lesser Admins. Maybe the actual owner of a forum should be given a separate and unique title, other than just "Admin"? Actually, in my opinion, the title of "Admin" should be reserved solely for the owner of a forum, no one else.

Bob - The preset member groups are just suggestions and not etched in stone. They can be renamed, deleted, powers modified, etc. By default the main admin is added to the Administrator group so that it identifies their account as "staff", else just their rank displays in their profile. fwiw, forums I encounter generally don't use that group for any other staff members. Those that do only add a member (or members) that assist managing the forum in the same capacity as the main admin.

Thank you, I understand it all now. I do think that the page Establishing Your Forum Staff could be better written and organized. The way it is now is somewhat confusing and misleading.

OK, give me a little while to do that. It won't happen today, and maybe not tomorrow, but I'll get to it.
