I located a plugin that may help me. I have downloaded the plugin and I have installed it. I have no idea where to go from here. This is the plugin - - - -www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/78
A quick explanation of the plugin is it provides a user the ability to fill in a form.
So where does this form show up? How do I use it etc? I cannot find any instructions on setting this up. Can anyone help me out?
Thank you! Alan

Alan You can click the Get Help With This Plugin link on the library page for the plugin to be taken to a thread dedicated to the usage and support of the plugin. If you have the plugin installed, you can also click the need help? link when configuring it to be taken to the same dedicated help thread. It's been years since I've tried that plugin, but you basically configure the plugin by adding the board or boards where you want the plugin to activate whenever someone tries to create a thread or reply to one (depending on settings chosen in plugin settings).

Thanks Chris for the guidance. I will give it a go but knowing my track record I will mess it up! Half the fun! Regards - Alan

Lynx, Thank you for the additional information. I am not sure if this plugin will do what I would like. What I am looking for is a blank form that appears with numerous fields to be filled in by the poster. Once entered the form is now a permanent post which can be edited by the poster or admin. The fields would be something like Name: Date: Class: and so on that would go down the left hand side of the form. Thanks for any input!

Judging from what you are wanting, it sounds like this plugin will work for that. A user fills in fields that you have already defined and it becomes a post when submitted - subject to editing and whatever else can be done to posts. If you need help in setting it up, let me know and I'll help the best I can - I have used this plugin for quite some time and I'm quite familiar with it.

Yes I looked at the images. Not sure how you build the form. How do I enter in the multiple fields I would like? I only see one. Thanks!

Yes I looked at the images. Not sure how you build the form. How do I enter in the multiple fields I would like? I only see one. Thanks! What you are seeing are called autoforms. When you start filling one out, a new, blank one will show up. This will allow you to keep adding fields as needed. If the fields are all part of 1 form, you only need to fill 1 out on the top half, then the bottom half is where you set up your fields for members to fill out. Just be sure to mathc the ID on each bottom half form to the ID of the form they belon to in the top half. Example: Top half: Form ID: Information (fill out the rest of the top half info, such as Name Width, Input Width, etc.) Bottom half: Form ID: Information (this links it to the top half with the same ID) (fill out Type, Field Name, etc for this entry) (new/blank autoform): Form ID: Information (links to the top half with same ID, making this the 2nd field for that form) (fill out the rest of the info for this entry) (new/blank autoform) - continue as needed to get all of the entries set up. If you want to make a mock up of what you want, I can see about adding images to show you. Just know that a new autoform will show up when you start filling one in.

Hello Lynx, I went back in and gave it a try. Looks like I was successful! I was confused on where I would enter in the fields after I filled out the bottom area. I did not realize that more areas to add fields would automatically appear! Only thing I wish would not happen is the SUBJECT field at the top of the form. Thanks for all you help! Regards - Alan

Regards - Alan If you are referring to what I think you're referring to, the Subject field is a part of any new thread and is a requirement on ProBoards' end. It's the same Subject field you fill out when making any new thread - and is not part of the plugin itself. On the same note, any replies that use a form from the plugin doesn't display the Subject field because it's not required for replies to an existing thread. tl;dr - The Subject field is part of any new thread, whether you're using the plugin or not.

I figured it was part of the Proboards structure. Can live with. Should not complain as Proboards is really nice to have!
