Repair misalignment text in news bar

I urgently need to repair my news feed banner. 

Been adjusting for days, can't get it back to the default situation anymore. 
It's mainly a misalignment problem. Text (both "News" and my input) not centered in the middle. How to fix this?

Removing line 1634 of your CSS will reduce the height of the blue box, but will recenter the text vertically.

Ok, that worked, text is aligned vertically. But the box is too small now. How to add height and keep text aligned?

Give this a try:

Go back to your CSS and on line 1633 change the value of padding-top from 0px to 20px and then add a new line right below that with:
padding-bottom: 20px;

So the whole thing looks like this:
#news,  #news .items.panel, #news .arrow{
   padding-top:20px;
   padding-bottom:20px;
   font-size:0.9em;
}
