1b5085 - It's not a reset per se, but you can change your post count by going to your Profile > Edit Profile > Staff Options tab, scroll down to the Post Count section.

Bob - Mostly I've seen this used when a long time member loses access to their account (or deletes their account regrettably) and so they make a new account on the forum. The admin then chooses to give them the same post count they had from their other account so they are not viewed as a new member with a low ranking. Might be an interesting question to pose on the Running Your Forum board to see how other admins may have used this option (if at all).

For me personally, I'm still setting up the forum and learning: posting, deleting, testing every function. I don't want this BS history in my profile. Besides that, I think it looks ridiculous to start a forum with only 3 or so real posts and a history of 200. It might give the impression of some significant hidden content where there's none. Also after going live, settings will still not be accurate: posts count or don't count where they should. This option gives the opportunity to adjust the post counts per user.

Unless you've also deleted all the posts, members who are logged in can still view the topic and post history of members and the admin. So, say you have a post count of zero right now. A member can still click on the links in your profile and see your post history if the posts exist. Thread IDs and post IDs still exist too, but the average person isn't looking at these things. For example, my forum shows 1,326,888 total posts, but the most recent post ID is 1,332,468. If someone really wanted to, they could do the math and see how many posts have been deleted on any forum.
