Forum URL: (private) Hello! I'd like to change admin/ownership of the forum to 'ylläpito' for logistic reasons as I'm stepping down as a admin and some topics need to be transferred from my posts. The new mod-team is creating an universal admin profile to ease-up the management. unohdetut.freeforums.net/user/1unohdetut.freeforums.net/user/37

Hi fuppe This topic has information about forum ownership transfers support.proboards.com/thread/561014/forum-admin-account-transfersA member of the ProBoards team will help you with the transfer when they get online today. In the meantime, could i ask that you acknowledge you have read and understood that topic, and that the person you wish to transfer ownership to, posts here. A couple of notes based on your post. When you transfer ownership, the new owner will gain control of the admin account. Posts and messages can not be transferred to a different account. Second thing. Accounts can not be shared, so one person would have to be the one you choose to have ownership and the admin account. The other people can be made administrators and help with the running of the forum, but only one person can be considered the owner. Craig

"To continue participating as a member on the forum after the transfer, you will need to have another registered account to use."
Does this mean my old account without ownership-status will disappear or does it just de-active? There is a lot of important information on my account. The posts will stay on the forum, right? Should I do the new account before the transfer of the forum ownership or after?
New admin will acknowledge the transfer by this evening.

The account will be tranferred - wholly - to the person you designate the new owner. All the posts and information in the account will remain, you - personally - will no longer be able to login to it anymore. It is important, therefore, you review your personal messages to remove any and all you don't want the new owner to see. Feel free to create your new account now

We will figure out something else for the new admin so thank you for the help!

We will figure out something else for the new admin so thank you for the help! Unfortunately, if your plan is to give up any say in the forum, you really should transfer ownership. In the event something happens to your forum, or if PB admins need to communicate with you, it will be sent as a PM to the username: admin account. If you're not actively checking that account, you'll miss those messages. PB staff will also be unable to help anyone except the registered owner of the username: admin account in the event something is needed involving forum security. There are also certain admin panel actions available only to the owner. My recommendation here would be a four step change: 1. Create a new account for regular use. 2. Change your admin account to have the display name of "Founder" (or something similar), and use your signature space to add something like "Founder, new account is (username). Do not PM this account." 3. Follow PB's process and transfer ownership to your successor. 4. Your successor continues posting on their original account, and only accesses the username: admin account as necessary (I recommended they turn on email notifications for PMs on that account so they don't miss any PB admin messages). With this method, all your old posts will be associated with the correct account + redirect to your new account + let your successor keep posting on their account. It's not ideal, but it's probably the most adviseable route if you do not intend to run the forum any longer.
