How's life?

Just a check in to the members that still keep somewhat active here. Personally myself I get bummed out more during the holidays because I always get a year older 😔. Anyway I've been doing more dental restoration this year. 3 implants and a couple wisdom teeth I had left over finally got dealt with. I'm hoping insurance covers a few more teeth. HMOs are such a pain and been holding me up all year for treatments with appeals and denials. Feels like I've been dealing with this all year basically have, while saving money for what they won't cover. Lost a few friends, met a few new people. I feel like next year will be a struggle but better in a good way. Besides that about the same as ever. Feel lucky to be stable with living conditions going on 8 years on my own. I'm more focused on improving my own life instead of worrying about what others think so much. Also been more focused on doctors appointments. The old me didn't even bother with flu shots and what not. I've found a new PCP I get along with pretty well so taking my yearly shots and blood work more seriously these days.

Still do some PC upgrades here and there hardwares always been my tinkering field although getting super expensive. I'm not really in the mood for long gaming sessions that much anymore don't know if I lost interest or just got bored. Or part of me just wants to find new activities. Still feel grateful for what I have and know others have it alot worse. I just go with the flow anymore.

I've watched your struggles over the years and am really proud of the steps you're taking.

I am usually bummed as this is the first year through the holidays I have been sober since .. about 12 years ago. 
I am proud of it, but it also is a true test of my reselience. 
It is crazy...
But I am doing wonderful! I love being sober and being okay

WOW, what an accomplishment! That's wonderful!

Thank you so much! I have been sober since 9/1/24 of this year, and have been feeling so much better about life.
It has been a long road, but I am truly grateful for this community as well as others that helped me along.

OK tbh! I haven't been super active in GT for a few years, so the TLDR is I left the freelance art / design field in 2019 and started working in the games industry :) I've worked at some big names, some little names... this year, I've been working on an unreleased MMO that just hit a major milestone in the end of October. I'm pretty worn out especially since the beginning of the year started with a layoff from my last company & I had a big relocation in the summer.

My team's been working pretty hard, and thankfully my company is closing for two weeks (paid!) starting next Monday — I am VERY ready for a break.

Overall, though, I'm doing okay :) I've started drawing a bit for fun again after a ~2 year break, and have been playing video games when I feel up for it.

This whole year has been incredibly difficult for us. Our car has had engine problems all year, and we had to give up our savings to save it earlier this year. I ended up losing my online job at an online university due to new rules set in place by HR. My partner lost their job early in the year and quickly found another one. I am no longer able to finish school because financial aid is drying out. And I've had some medical problems occur end of this year making life a bit difficult.

On the positive side, my partner is promoting quickly at their new job, I opened an etsy shop this summer and learned a lot from it (closed rn due to personal reason), my partner is going to school full time, my kid is getting old enough to understand holidays and situations which has been a lot of fun, and I was able to personally get through the whole marvel universe film wise this year.

It's been a bunch of ups and downs for sure.

It's been a struggle for sure. I still got immaturity in me and that's fine imo can't be too grown. The best people I keep around are the ones that accept that and in return I put up with their impurities.

Life seems to be going well for me!! Yesterday was my birthday and i got lots of love and birthday wishes from friends. My bio dad forgot my birthday and that stung a bit, but I'm very grateful to the people that remembered me!

Taking a trip this holiday week north to visit my partners family, it feels a lot lot home. Theres snow on the ground!! I havent had a snowy christmas in 7 years.

Thanks! I'm excited to start living there -- it's a great house and a much better neighborhood than where I am now. I'm not so excited about the actual moving process, though 😅
