For animating images in PS I think you create each new frame as a new layer and then save optimized as but that isn't the best way - using imageready which comes with ps is probably better. To duplicate something on an image then duplicate the layer it is on or use the clone brush or make a selection and then ctrl+c and ctrl+v on a new layer. Dunno what you mean combining images in PS - do you mean blending them in to each other. If so then paste them in on different layers and then use the eraser tool with a soft brush to blend them in.

to do animation in ps you need to do the frames in either ps or ir and save it in ir to combine images just lasso around the oart of the image you want to combine to the next image. (best to have the feather around 5). to make a copy of an image either do ctrl+j or right click the layer and duplucate
