Forum URL: navigor.proboards91.comI have seen on another proboards forum that a moderator can alter people's passwords. Is this true?

^you need to remove the A:M/C as it doesn't need answered by them.
Yes this is true as long as you have set a moderator's powers to modify other people profiles.

Well what about admins?
Another board says :
"Yes it's correct, administrators and Mods cannot gain members passwords. However, they can change passwords, effectively locking members out of their account."
However on my board I can see no way to do this (even if I wanted to) so is this correct?
I ask because a group of malicious people keep telling lies about me and my members on their forum and this is the latest one - that I am changing members passwords.

Hi. I was wondering if you could just clear up an argument for me.
The original question was about whether a moderator could change passwords, to which I understand the answer is no. Is an administrator of the board able to change passwords?
And if not, would it be possible that the admin could change the user's email address to their own, then use the forgotten password link to change it "through the back door" so to speak?
Thank you.

In my board, I can't change anyone's passwords but mine. So even Administrators can't do it. Although, of course, they have the power to disable or ban an account, so I don't see the need to alter the passwords unless the Admin is really evil. BTW, e-mail adresses can be changed, so that means a Staff member with the power to modify profiles can get the password (and later change it since he/she will have acess to the other account) "through the back door".

Albert Hurwood you stand accused of stealing people's IDs on yout pathetic site. You just pinch their username and change the password because you are a control freak with BNP tendencies. You will be defeated like all right wing vermin.
