Board URL: danballforums.proboards.comProblem: Our administrator has a few serious problems. I highly suspect his account has been taken over. His name-change was not a big deal, just what came after that. He's gone nuts. He's deleting the most important and popular threads, even the staff-controlled ones, that we cannot easily replicate. Not just trashing them, but taking the time and effort to properly delete them. He used to be a normal, if inactive, administrator, so I don't see much else that could have happened. As it happens we do have a few "forum enemies" with brute forcers that occasionally try to attack, and I know that some of his previous passwords have been very simple. Also, he has been constantly threatening to delete the forum for the past couple weeks, and the date is on the 25th. I probably should have come here earlier. There's been a vote on his satisfaction rating, and in all the people, only 1 or 2 felt he should still be admin. This is before he went crazy, so I'm guessing it is 0 (or in the negatives, if possible) by now. Thus, by our "ODBF Constitution", he would have been impeached long ago. Naturally, he refused to follow our constitution, but still. Is there any chance of confirming that he is, in fact, the same admin that we've always had previously? And, if so or if not, is there any way to temporarily disable the account and attempt to contact the true admin for a password change? If not, and the admin has complete control no matter how nuts they are, I guess the forums are as good as deleted. Naturally, I have hidden my name, and I suggest that any other forum members from out forum do the same, in case the admin finds it. In his current state he wouldn't think twice about permabanning all of us.

Unfortunately, Proboards cannot interfere with how a forum is run, and they cannot do anything like disable the admin account unless the admin requests it, and can prove they are the owner of the forum.

while admins can check IP, if it's different he may have gotten a new provider since he registered. =[ I'm sure an admin here can check for you, but even if it's a different IP it doesn't mean that it's -not- him, if that makes sense?
do you have any alternate methods of contacting him? such as IM, or facebook, or even by phone?

Ugh. Ah well, we can always go with the move-to-a-new-forum plan.

Scratch that, I found the new post. I guess we do have his email and his STEAM account, we can try those. Matter of interest, does the IP vary? Also, in the event of deletion, is it possible to re-register at the same URL?

Also, in the event of deletion, is it possible to re-register at the same URL? IP can vary depending on the person's internet service provider, and some other factors. No, even if a forum is deleted, it is still stored, so the URL would be unavailable.

Right, failing that, is there any easy method or program to transfer all the censor codes / posts / members / skins / Headers and Footers to another forum? At all? I think there's a program to help with that...

proboards cannot be transfered to other sites, i'm afraid. using a program to do so would result in something that strains the servers, and will wind up getting your site removed for TOS violations. What I can suggest, is to create a new forum, linking back to the old forum as archive. Also as preparation for the move, i suggest you use the 'print topic' feature of each thread so you can at least have something in the event the admin decides to go crazy.
the reason i asked if you could get ahold of the real admin through another means was to ask him if the person doing stuff to the board was him. =] if it's not, he can come here and get help, if it is... well... =[
edit; to add, you can take a screenshot of the 'modify skins' pages, so you can remember what they looked like, and download the headers/footers to save your coding [all via admin panel, if you have access].

Ah, good call. We're working on it (new forum at danballforum.proboards.com/index.cgi), and we seem to be going decently. Mayhaps I should print/save/something the important/long threads, we can add them over time.

sounds good, as long as you don't use a program to 'force' the downloads, as those are against the rules. =]
best of luck.

I assume you're talking about the "we've moved" notice? Those are fine, as long as there is no auto-redirecting involved.
