Forum URL: sunbun.proboards.comSo yesterday, everything was normal until today in the morning. Everything on the forum was password protected. I sent a message to the admin and she said that she was going to see what was going on. I left for a few hours, and now over 3,000 posts have been deleted (there used to be over 6,000, now there's 3,000.). I'm a mod at that forum. Please help!

Hi, We can roll the forum back to the latest backup we have, which was made in the morning hours on the 5th of this month. Have the admin register an account here and reply stating whether or not they would like to go through with the rollback

Okay. First, stay calm. Those posts, unfortunately, cannot be recovered. But, i you have access to the security log, check it and see who did this. It doesn't sound as if someone edited the source, but the admin probably does not have access to her account any more.
Please tell me what the results are!

Hi Wooly, While I appreciate the willingness to help, can we keep it between ProBoards staff and staff of the forum in question please? Just don't want to confuse the members of the forum. Thanks

So I've sent a private message to the admin, mentioning about this topic. I hope she reads it soon.

Thanks a lot for your help. And just for a bit more info, we believe that the forum had been hacked before as well. When we put the word "Lol", it turned into ****. Someone must've hacked into the forum settings at that time.

According to the security log, the staff member account associated with the recent actions modified the censored words listings on the 3rd of this month. It doesn't appear that the account was compromised as the IP address associated with todays actions and the censored words modification also match previous entries in the security log. So that means that particular staff member has either gone mad, or they share the computer with someone else in their household and forget to log out from their account.

Well the admin had already solved the problem with the "Lol" turning into ***. Is there any way that you can find out who hacked the forum?

Again, the forum wasn't hacked. The staff member "Missyliss" has either gone mad, or shares their computer with someone who has taken advantage of their account being logged into the forum. None of the boards or threads have been deleted, however. They just moved them and hid them, while making other changes to the forum as well (just as an example, it appears they just changed your 'intro and outro' board so that it's hidden from the board index, but you can still visit it with this link). The main admin will be able to view the security log themself to see the actions and can determine whether it would be worth to just reverse the changes they made, or just rollback the forum to a backup. I have demoted the Missyliss account to prevent any further mishap on the forum until then.

I see... Sorry for asking this, what does "demoted" mean?

It means their account is now a normal user account rather than a staff account, so they can't make any significant changes to the forum anymore

Oh, ok. Well, Missyliss hasn't gone mad. I know this because the forum's admin knows her ion real life, and she told me that they're both aware of the problem. Think that Missyliss logs o at her school, and maybe she's left the account open. Can you undo the changes that Missyliss did?

I can't, no. The main admin would have to do that.
