Hello,
I have a member that entered an incorrect birth year (typo), and would like to edit it, or have admin edit it. Can this be done, or does the user account have to be deleted and re-entered?
Thank you,
Chip

Thank you, Chip I think someone created a code in the code database to fix this.. you may want to check there However, im not sure if its for just the main admin.. but give that a go

You can put this in your global footers to modify an age and birthdate. Just be sure to modify the red text to match the users's username, age, and birthdate.
<script type="text/javascript"> <!--
function changeAge(name, age, bday) { var td = document.getElementsByTagName('td'); for(i=0; i<td.length; i++) { if((location.href.match(new RegExp('viewprofile&user='+name)) || (pb_username == name && location.href.match(/viewprofile$/))) && td.item(i).width == '25%' && td.item(i).firstChild.innerHTML == 'Birthday:') { td.item(i+1).firstChild.innerHTML = bday; td.item(i+3).firstChild.innerHTML = age; } } }
changeAge('username','age','month/day/year');
//--> </script>
Keep in mind, this only modifies the age/birthdate in the profile, and not the birthday section listed in the info center, so it will work great if only the wrong year was keyed.

Hmmm...well correct me if I'm wrong but while this may change the way the birthday is displayed on the page it won't actually change the birthday itself. It merely acts in a "switch-it" fashion. Alternatively if you didn't want to utilize code and clog up your headers/footers area you could simply have them delete their account and create a new one with the correct birthdate. Then modify their post count/karma.

Then modify their post count/karma. If the member has been there a while they may not want their joined date to be affected, and that can't be editted without a very similar code. The view profile page is the only place that the birthdate appears anyway, so I don't see what's wrong with using a code to switch the date. It creates the same effect. The best option IMO would just be to have that person hide their birthday and age through their profile. Then who cares if it's wrong?

I guess it just depends on the individual's preference. Personally I'd rather delete and recreate the account as opposed to adding another code to slow loading time down simply for one or a few people.

Well if coded correctly the code would only affect the one page that it's supposed to affect (unfortunately that particular code isn't; the location check is inside the loop), but even then it's on the order of thousandths of a second.

I thank each of you for your assistance. From, all that has been said, I think in this instance, it may be better if the member removes and reinstates their account.
I do appreciate all of the input!
