First, I would like to apologize for the continued problems with the server.
This server runs the same software and hardware as server 48 and runs fine, as you can tell. This has made it increasingly difficult to trace problems.
In order to allow for a "normal" visiting experience (with regards to the most important functions, viewing and making posts etc), functions that create the initial issue (which in turn cause the too many connections errors) have been disabled.
These functions are only related to searches.
During this time everything else should be as fast as you are used to.
As adapted code is brought online, these features will return one by one.
Please keep discussions relating to server 48 to this thread for ease of keeping track of issues.
Also, please only make use of this thread if you are a server 48 user. There is no need for others to take part in this thread.
As for an estimated time for fixes, I don’t plan on going to sleep until this problem is resolved. Based on that, the problems should not extend past today.

At this time the "users recent posts" database is being reloaded.
This process involves parsing every post on every server 48 forum. A slight slowdown maybe noticed during this time, however it is being done in a way that the slowdown will be minimal if at all.
As each post is processed, it will then appear in the users recent posts again. This process works from oldest, to newest post. As such, users "recent" posts may appear to be their oldest for a short time.

Based on the current speed of the reload, i estimate all forums "users recent posts" features will be working fully again within 1 hour.
Also as of this time, the reload has had no effect on page loading. If you are still getting Too Many Connection errors at this time, please let me know in this thread

I have deleted posts that were in here, just to keep the "current" information on the first page. Do feel free to add more information to this thread if you have it. Like before, i will read and take in the information before deleting it.
I have finished making another set of changes. In theory the server should now keep itself far more stable. Of course the only problem with that is time. I will not know if it was a success until a couple of hours have passed without problems.
Lets keep an eye out, and hope all is right this time.

Do you think our forum will get the upgrade after you resolve those problems or is it going to take further fixes for our forum to get 4.5? As I said before I just want everything to be ok when we get 4.5 this time around or I will catch some major heat again. I trust your judgment so when you feel comfortable with it go for it! Get some sleep though!

First, let me thank you for all your tireless work on these issues, from a user of Server 48. But, when I tried to post at scubiefan.proboards48.com/index.cgiI got this message: "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@proboards.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Apache/1.3.39 Server at support.proboards.com Port 80"

Try again, i think it was just bad timing Jay: This is all related to the problems you were having, once this is sorted, all should be good for you.

Martyn , thanks for your continued efforts. My board is still struggeling with the internatl server errors and TMC messages as we speak. It goes through very slow phases of page loading as well. A tip that might be of help to you is that the online users stats show myself and others as being logged in twice ( at the same time ) throughout the day. If there are other issues that show up I will post them here. As you can see live4ever.proboards48.com is a top 10 board on that server and therefore might be more prone to all the difficulties thanks again

As for the slowdowns and TMC's are they at least less frequent now? Or is it as bad as ever

Thanks, Martyn, for your dedication. We know this is frustrating for everybody. We also have members in your time zone who are still awake and rooting for you.

Could anyone give an update as to how they feel it has been running over the last few hours?

Other than the "Online Users"/"Active Users" issues that I reported earlier (which are still ongoing -- I'm still in the 24-hour list twice), OfGod.proboards48.com seems to be running very smoothly. I say "seems" because it's hard to tell for sure, since most of our members haven't been around much this week due to all the issues that we've been having ... but it does appear to be pretty smooth right now. Keep up the good work, and try not to get frustrated over the lack of positive responses -- eventually this past week will just be another bad memory that we can all forget as we enjoy using our upgraded ProBoards forums.

Mine seems to be working well right now except for the 10 Most Recent Posts and Recent Activity found in the profile, but you said these search related functions have been temporarily disabled.
Everything else seems normal. No lag time and no TMC messages, etc.
Thank you for all your hard work.

The 10 most recent will slowly repopulate. I could get it done a lot faster, but it was putting too much strain on the server and starting to slow it down again (something i want to avoid)
I think what ill do is make it so new posts made from now add to the list, so at least the literal most recent posts get in the list, and then ones from before today can backfill. Not ideal, but i think it gives us the best of both worlds given the situation at present
